Kaw Krew hits the Interstate
The latest mission consisted of riding Mobile Alabama to party and promote a convention in New Orleans In January.
The ride consisted of All Kawasakis, 4 men & 1 woman, 06 07 08 & 09 ZX-14 an a 02 ZX-12.
The word was put out that we were taken this ride a few months in advance and no other brands or riders for that matter stepped up.
I Left My home @ 3:30 Am Thursday 11-13-08 to meet up with 3 riders in Delaware and another Rider our only female in the group @ the top of VA.
We were in rain from Delaware until North Carolina, then the rain stopped and the sun went down and at first it seemed to be warmer then the temperature dropped.
We had setup a layover in Atlanta so we pushed through and arrived around 12:30AM.
The next leg of the trip we were escorted by 2 Busas and a SRAD into Mobile and the Kaw Suzki thing came up.
We didn't have alot to say, but when we arrived the Suzuki guys were speaking for us, LOL.
Out of 5 of us only 1 hung out on Friday night.
My roommate told me to wake him up in 20 minutes which would have been 11PM and I figured a short nap sounded good, the next thing I knew it was 7 in the morning.
The next day we participated in a Police Escorted tour, one of the coldest BBQ's I've been to and finally the party, where I won another furthest distance on 2's trophy.
This one is being transported for me, instead of me strapping it to the bike like I normally do.
Fast Forwarding to the return trip it was dry but cold and once we were back in familiar territory all signs of the formation we had left.
The riders dropped of at their exits and the speed increased.
I made it home safe and sound only to get back on the bike the next day to add another 450 miles.
I rode up to Fultonville, NY on the other side of Albany for a ticket (85 in a 65) @ 7pm court.
Long story short I got another ticket (82 in a 65, the officer changed it to a parking ticket with a note), hit some flurries, 4 out of 5 court personnel rode (HDs) , $100 fine no points (I can live with that), discovered my feet can only stay warm for 2 hours in 20 degree weather (heated socks will be ordered soon), and back home by 1:30AM.
The most awkward moment besides telling the cop I was on my way to court for a ticket was when the Assistant District Attorney who also rides, asked me what was the fastest I have been, I didn't know how to answer him, but I told the truth sort of,.
I told him how fast but told him I was on a track when I did it.

That is what I'm talking about real riders ride. Best time to hit Kentucky is Derby first weekend in May. Mad bikes, drag racing, women, and fun. Come kick it with Down 2 Ride MC.

I am one of the "Kaw Krew" and it was a ride to remember. Rain almost the whole way there. Cold all the way back. We go all four seasons in 5 days. It just makes you stornger for what most people consider long rides. Hell! The first day I went well over 900 miles for our layover in Fayetteville, GA which is just southwest of Atlanta. The highlight of my ride was being able to smack around a few busas on the last few hours of the trip. We gave it to them...saddle bags and all. I had a good time overall. I plan to pick up all of the Gerbin heated gear when work picks back up.

When we got back. The girl on the 2008 asked me: "When are we doing it again?"
That's gangsta.

You guys rock! I wouldn't mind the weather either. I've noticed that the 14 helps keep your feet dryer than other bikes. The wife and I got caught in heavy rain in Seattle this year, her feet were drenched, and mine were dry. (She was on her '07 650r Ninja).

I tell people that I love to ride more than I hate the cold or rain or whatever else may come my way.
As long as my tires grip I rolling on 2's preferably.
Relocating the family for more riding time would be a little selfish, LOL.

I did some research on waterproof boots and I've come across the Sidi On Road Sympatex. These boots are the most talked about waterproof boots I've seen thus far. They will be in my garage soon.

There are two types of people, sportbikers and motorcyclists. You guys are motorcyclists, and in it for the long haul. Much respect. I am a sportbiker, I am too much of a weinie to make a ride like that even in great weather.
