Flies out, rough ride!
First of all thanks to all of you who have posted lessons learnt and shared there best mod Info: (it is odd, sometime stranger are more willing to help you out than a person you’ll known for years.?)
The problem I need help with is This:
I removed the flies, instilled pcIII(grounding it to the frame using coolant tank strew per power commander instructions), down loaded the corresponding power commander map (flies out, stock air filter, and stock exhaust.). I let the zx14 run until it was warmed up and reset the throttle using the power commander program.
I took it out for a test ride and noticed an improved lower end power response instantly. (Loved it!!!!) As the day turned into night I noticed the zx14 started to operate rougher and rougher( extremely at lower rpm’s). Until it eventually it stalled as I made a turn in first gear at about 2000 rpm. I restarted the zx14 and herked and jerked my way back home. In near panic mode and decided to type this request for help. ( I haven’t purchased a brocks pipe yet due economic short coming, but plan to do so after tax return.)
So for the time being; my mods are as follows:
gearing16/44
wheel base 64.5in
Speedo Healer v4
pcIII (flies out, shock exhaust, stock air filter)
tires (u-soft rear, pilot power front)
lowered and strapped
flies out, shock exhaust, stock air filter
ps: Sorry if this is an old issue that has been address but I am new and could not find an on thread that would inform me on how to solve this issue. (Please Help!!!)

you know what that sounds like? PCIII ground came loose. Could be a host of other probs, but 99% of the time it is a faulty PCIII ground.
If you use the water bottle bolt mount to ground, but sure and TIGHTEN it and I suggest some dialectric grease

I reground the pc to the battery and it preformed much better; no herky jerky and no stalling so for.
During the test ride I really put her through the paces; 1st thru 2nd roll on from 2000rpm to 11000 than decel'ed in 3rd to 3000rpm cruised around a parking lot at idle.
2nd thru 4th roll on to 11000rpm each gear exited the highway and decel'ed hard and cruised around a parking lot at idle.
Cruised around town (stop twice by the police in 20 min. no tickets thank GOD! I think they just wanted to look at the bike).
Stop and restarted the zx14 about 3 time. no problem.
However, the zx14 runs a little unrefined; is that normal for the mod? And by unrefined I mean more vibration and louder exhaust note( not that I am complaining I like it; I just wonder if it is normal?)
last be not least, should I remap the zx14 and recalibrate it due to the fact I move the ground wire?

I was just reading a tuning article on removing the secondary butterflies on a standard ZX-10 and they commented on the noise being a bit louder when they added fuel to the PC map. I suppose it would be the same on your 14.

the smoothness is related to the mapping. the map you have is probably ok but a better smoother map can be made(on a dyno) or may be available. i see you are running stock exhaust, if you put a pipe on it the manfacturer will provide you with a better map for sure. and you will get another big kick in the ass when you put the pipe on.

i have a stock motor except bmc air filter slip on muffler no fly pc3. i never have problem with my pc3 but for smoothness i am shure it is your mapping.wen i remove the fly i downloded a map from dynojet for my application,i can say that the map was far very far from perfect i fine tune it the best i can with a afr dataloger lm1 from inovate.i think i have a good map until 1 month ago i remove the pc3 and instal an afr tuner from motty after about 2 hours of driving the bike the map was almost done . my zx14 got 76000 km on it and it is the first time that it run so well

I've never found it to be unrefined, as you put it...but a 2k roll on is too much load under WOT....it will puke at those speeds under WOT...take her to high 2's before you WOT in any of the lower gears.

You can see it working by watching the lights on the PC III its self - The lights will
move up and down whil you rev it.
To check the map, you need to plug it into you home computer or laptop. It will
diplay the map and show you the map number.
