Sorry about the late reply, ive just been too busy to come on as often as I was. YES you need to sand the crap out of the seat to make it fit. An orbital sander worked really well for me. I had to take almost a 1/4 of an inch off in places. I kept sanding until I could ride the bike without it touching anywhere. Another thing you can do to keep it from messing anything up until you get it fully sanded is put a layer or 2 of electical tape down on the tail section it works well and if you have a black bike you cant even tell its there
And yes I think it helped. But first I had to get a pad/cover put on it because it was so slick that I would literally slide right off the back of the bike when I launched it. With the stock seat I was running mid to high 1.5x 60's and with the dragseat and no seat cover I was pulling high 1.7's because I couldnt stay on the damn thing. But now that I have had it covered I can pull consistant low 1.5x 60's with a best of a 1.50 and I do think that the seat has helped with that. And it looks pretty cool.
