Clunky shifts?
Has anyone else experienced their tranny feeling really notchy since going to Full Synthetic? I've got roughly 1500 miles on this oil change, and it seems like my bike feels very clunky these days lol. I'm not ruling the clutches out, but It still pulls great and when the clutch is pulled in it doesn't try to creep at all. I wonder if it's just time to change them out (probably is lol)? The bike has 9500 miles on it, with roughly 120 runs down the strip.
What do you guys think?

Bawls, not being a smart ass, but is your chain adjusted correctly? I am currently
running Alisyn 10W-30 and dont have any problems. Can shift without the clutch
from 2-3 on up. 8800 miles 200 runs at the strip with an air shifter.

check the chain every day before I ride it. I come from the Offroad world where you have to adjust chain and clean the airfilter every day pretty much lol. I don't feel the Clunky shifts when i'm accelerating hard because I just speed shift (which tells me that It may be the clutch). It's only at lower speeds that I really notice it.

I can't be much help as I don't even have one drag on it. However at 8000 miles (synthetic oil since 1200 miles) it is the smoothest shifting bike I have had. So I would have to agree that maybe your clutch is showing its (age) use. The best thing about the 14 (or a Busa) is that in everyday use, you do not have to worry at all about the clutch unless you run it heavy. The torque allows for immediate speed without the need to 'use' the clutch. I am sure that I will go through chains and sprockets before I will have any clutch problems. For the use it was 'intended' for, I believe they got it right. I was surprised how after 5000 miles it got smoother and faster. The only thing that I feel is not made 'strong' enough is the rear shock. I am going to have to replace it with an aftermarket to keep the ride smooth. Keep us informed if yo udo find any tranny issues..

I'm sure I'll end up doing plates and springs this winter. I honestly don't see it being any tranny problems though. I was just thinking that maybe it was a symptom of running synthetic oil since I've always run either half syn or dino. I'll do an oil change pretty soon and see if new oil changes anything. On a lighter note, a friend of mine with a new 1000rr tried to fuck with me on a straight away on our way home from work. Lets just say that he won't be doing that one again lol.

my clutch works good,,but if i pull it in n kick it into first gear it will clunk,,wont pull forward,,or drag enough to push the bike forward,,but if i hold the clutch in for a few seconds n kick it in first it wont clunk,,the clunk is from drag,,not enough to make the bike move or kill the engine,,but enough to make a clunk,,it didnt seem to matter what kind of oil i was using,,it always clunked into first,,i dont think it is a problem,,i have 10700 miles on it,,,,,,

One of the bennies of running synthetic oil is smoother shifting. Other than the initial clunk from neutral into first at a stop mine is silky smooth. I shift clutchlessly most of the time she just clicks right into gear on upshifts or downshifts with a throttle blip. Something must be wrong, could you have maybe trapped some air in the clutch hydralic system when you flushed it? I have heard of this happening before but usually it is accompanied by a change in engagement or feel with the clutch lever.

Been using Synthetic for the last 2,500 miles. Ocasionally it clunks as I engage first from a cold start, like it always did, otherwise it's smooth as silk. The bike has 4,000 miles on it, it's been down the strip maybe 150 times and over 200mph 9 times, transmission is all original.

I'm sure that it's just starting to show it's age. I don't exactly ride slow and it's my daily driver. I'll see what it does after an oil change this weekend.

I don't think it's the age thing but it probably the 120 runs down the strip you previously mentioned.
I ride my 07 hard and it has 13700 miles on it with not one glitch.
