quote: Ok I went to the Dealarship today they said Kawasaki is going to do nothing about it and I also took another Mechanix in to look at the motor. He showed me that it was actually a rod bearing that spun and not a main bearing. So i presented that to the delarship and they simply said oh what did we tell you. The total price to fix is $2900 all they took of was 18% or $250. Then they offered me a new 09 Kawasaki and said they would give me $3000 i told them they were crazy. Never again will i buy a Kawasaki Product or from that Dealarship. Sad to i have been a loyal kawasaki buyer.
Don't blame Kawi blame the dealer.
Me and my dealer have a love hate relationship,
They have had my ZZR 600 since May for a warranty tranny repair, which is why I bought the 14 or pushed up my plans for the 14, but when my 14 started knocking they had the motor torn down the day I dropped it off (2 rod bearings went) and had me back on the road in 8 days. Which I have tested by putting 2800 miles on it in a week 2 days after I got it back.
I did have them add the Schintz Oil Valve, Muzzy oil pump cover, air filter, spark plugs and blockoff plates while they were in there, but nothing came out of my pocket for the repair.
In fact he told me that I didn't have to put my butterflies back in and took them back out for me.
I had just picked up oil and a filter the day my motor went and was going to change it the next day, the couldn't tell me what caused the problem, but maybe if I did that oil change, It might have saved me.
I don't track race my bike on the track, but have done a few 3AM top end runs.

What are you going to do?
Marine Cranks or APE can fix that crank for ~$300 add one new rod ~$150,
6 new rod bolts ~50, and a head gasket ~$75, bearings ~$100-200 and you are riding again.

Get that crank lightened and balanced or do a 4mm stroker.
GET SOMETHING FOR THAT MUCH MONEY!!!!
You have less than $1000 in parts and machine work.
Are you going to spend $2000 in labor from someone that can't tell the difference between
a rod and a main bearing, or don't care?
Let him know he can screw you but you won't be quite. Tell him about this thread, and how the world (including Kawasaki) is watching. This is not the advertisement he wants.
Call other dealers / shops and gets some estimates on what it would cost to repair your engine with one bad rod journal.
Then post the dealers name and number. Maybe some of our experienced members can
call to give that one armed mechanic some pointers.

Kawasaki wont do anything either. but the thing is that i had warranty when i bought it and was told i didn't. I also had 5 months to buy an extended warranty and i was told i had to buy it the day of sale that is why i couldn't didn't have any money. And also they just raised the bill to 3700 from 3200 to make it look like they were giving me a better deal they told me it was 3200 and they can only give 15% off which took it to 2900. I am blaming Kawasaki also because this bike has not been rode hard since i bought it everything is strictly for show. I put 8000 miles on it this year and now there trying to blame that also the high flow oil filter i use which all my friends use and no one else has any problems and they also tried blaming it on the full synthetic oil i use that they highly recommended when i bought the bike. But the dealer said these bikes aren't made for abuse which is completely bull. But i am talking to a lawyer this week about going after Kawasaki and the dealer so hopefully something comes out of this.

Did you try another dealer?
Did you contact Kawasaki service or take the dealers word?
The first dealer was running a scam.
Did you approve the work, and get the estimate in writing?
