Wow! What an improvement
I was going to wait to see Smokin' and Jesse's results from the head gasket mod.
Well I had to make a move, pulled the head to replace the valve springs, I am spraying NOS at the Tx mile in a few weeks.
Found my cams were not to factory specs, as Jesse's were, mine 104.5/104 , compression was good all cylinders.
Just replaced the stk head gasket, with OEM, didn't shave the head at all, since we are still using stk pistons with the NOS.
Degreed the cams to Smokin's recommendation 105/107, added a Muzzy adj. ign.rotor +4, and TWW cylinder studs, since no one had APE studs in stk.
Went to the track last night, @ 60" wheelbase, bike/rider weight 765lbs, 87pump gas,
first pass, bogging a little ran 9.80 with 1.71 60ft. This same 60ft. before at stk wb
would net a 10.0@140mph best.
Made a few passes with the few extra inches in the arm, and the new found power ran a best of 9.65 @ 143mph with a 1.59 short time,
hitting the rev-limiter in 1st gear!
Hope to get a better map in the bike next week, this is just my homemade map, I'm real happy with the outcome so far.
In the end I attribute 2tenths to wb, and a tenth and a half to just setting the motor up right.

How long ago did you run the 10.0@140? Were the conditions and fuel similar?
Also, can you compare 330 times on those runs?
Are you spraying a bigger shot than before, at the mile?

Here are back to back passes the last time out, similar conditions no mapping changes
at all since theses runs, I have a whole log full of similar runs at stk wheelbase.
1.685 4.379 6.541 113.67 8.417 10.021 140.10
1.712 4.359 6.512 113.92 8.378 9.975 140.76
1.690 4.506 6.725 111.08 8.629 10.251 138.63 (Wheelied)
1.716 4.353 6.500 114.47 8.363 9.952 141.51
1.696 4.368 6.544 113.18 8.417 10.014 140.89
Last night:
1.710 4.287 6.400 116.34 8.237 9.808 142.31
1.635 4.319 6.468 114.65 8.322 9.898 142.63 (Wheelied)
1.702 4.272 6.369 117.07 8.198 9.761 143.63
1.597 4.157 6.261 116.85 8.092 9.659 143.04
I'm looking to spray enough to get to about 250Hp for the mile, not quite sure what it'll take yet.
Installing an LM2 this week before the dyno runs with JohnnyCheese.
Hopefully we can tune some lower ET's out of it.

When you say stock wheelbase, you are saying that you have added 2" of arm since those runs?

Yes, the bone stk swing arm and then bought an extended stocker that is actually 3" over,
but it measures 60.5" wheelbase when tied down and lowered.

Do you think that some of the mph might be from being able to get into the throttle sooner with the extra w/b? I'm just curious if it is all related to the cam degree and timing or not. You aren't logging throttle position by chance, are you?
Stock pistons? Progressive controller for the mile?
I'm also thinking about springs. I'm trying to find out as much as I can about the cam degree, thin gasket, and springs as I can. Thanks.

Shane those new numbers rival ones when the bike was 64" in much better weather.
If I get some time learning to launch it harder with more gearing it will improve even more.
It felt like it pulled much harder down track, plus I contribute at least half that to added length.
"Stock pistons?" =yes, they looked good even after all the 600+ drag passes and spraying at the mile last year.
"Progressive controller for the mile?"= yes this time, with the bigger shot I thought it might be neccesary.
However with the 45shot it was not needed at all, only used the spray at the top of 3rd gear and on up.

16-41 last night, but I think I could go as high as 16-43, I'll try that out next.

Ninja12- I added timing on motor, but will be pulling some while spraying.
But what this tells me is it likes timing, so I shouildn't need to pull that much out.
Cajunboyz- I put the carpenter singles in, good value a bunch stiffer,
and I was pleased to see that the stockers were singles too.
I really was fearful after putting it back together that I might have slowed the bike down,
but all worked out just as planned. Tried 16-43 gearing @ 60" wb, have to short shift
1-2-3 just to keep the front wheel down, going back to 16-41, might try 17-44 later.
