I read in 2wheel tuner that they canceled bike week in May. You might want to check to make sure that it's not cancel next month also..

with the new ordinence propasals the have, its gonna be hard for you to bring a bike to Myrtle Beach at all!! one of them basically says that all motorcycles must have original exhaust with all the fed and dot markings still on bike. or face inpound until it can be legally remove from city limits. I.E. find a trailer which also cant be parked on streets anymore.

they're really gettin serious now!! unfortunately
but mbbikeweek.com says nothin has been cancelled Period.

Myrtle Bitch Exhaust ordinance passed and takes immediate effect!! gotta have epa and or dot designations, and or not be louder than 87 db.
some others also take effect also.
info from cityofmyrtlebeach website.

Be careful people!!!!

Just a heads up!

e. It shall be unlawful and a public nuisance, to operate any motor vehicle of any
51 size and regardless of the year of manufacture:
52
53 1. That is not equipped with an adequate muffler in constant operation, free
54 of defects and modifications, and that prevents the escape of any
55 excessive or unusual noise, or
56 2. That has a muffler system that is equipped with a straight pipe exhaust
57 system (regardless of the presence of baffles), or
58 3. That has a hollow core muffler, or
59 4. That has a muffler that is labeled for off road closed course competition
60 use, or
61 5. That has a muffler system that has a cut out, bypass, or similar device
62 designed or so installed so that it can be used continually or intermittently
63 to bypass or otherwise reduce or eliminate the effectiveness of a muffler
64 or muffler system, or
65 6. That has a muffler system that has been modified in a manner which will
66 amplify or increase the noise emitted by the exhaust.
67
68 f. Regardless of Subsections a - e above, it shall be unlawful to operate any motor
69 vehicle within the city limits so as to make any loud or unnecessary noise that
70 results from any one or more of the following actions by the operator to create a
71 per se loud and unnecessary noise:
72 1. Misuse of acceleration or braking power that exceeds tire traction limits,
73 sometimes known as "burn-outs", "burning rubber", "laying down rubber"
74 or "peeling rubber".
75 2. Excessive acceleration or deceleration while in motion where there is no
76 emergency need.
77 3. Rapid acceleration by means of quick up shifting of transmission gears
78 with either a clutch or manual transmission or automatic transmission.
79 4. Rapid deceleration by means of quick downshifting of transmission gears
80 with either a clutch or manual transmission or an automatic transmission.
81 5. Racing or revving of engines by manipulation of the accelerator, gas
82 pedal, or carburetor in applying fuel to the engine in a greater amount than
83 is necessary whether the vehicle is either in motion or standing still.
84 6. Operation of the vehicle by intentionally applying unnecessarily excessive
85 acceleration from a stationary position, or unnecessary, deliberate or
86 intentional bursts of acceleration while moving in a non-emergency
87 situation.

i have to agree with the revving and general making of unnecessary noise though.
but its still to restrictive I.E. being unlawful to operate vehicle period! basically.

+1

Internally at Myrtle Beach its been the wealthy business owners wanting as many bike weeks as possible, against the citizens which want ZERO bike week BS.

I'm not putting my stock 87 db exhaust back on my bike to go back there, I'll respect the wishes of the community and spend my money elsewhere.

Yeah I saw in 2 wheel tuner that they were cancelling bike week also? Dont know if it is true only been there once from Denver, Co. and that was a 28 hr trip hauling 4 bikes. But with that noise ordinace I wont be able to drive my truck through there. I guess if they don't want bikes there then come out and say it. The round up is in Atlanta this yr. so I guess that is my road trip of 2009. Lets go.

rip myrtle beach. with all the new bike laws coming out you don't want to go there, and florida seems like it is right behind with their own stupid laws.
