oil light on!!!!
07 zx14 full yoshi, pc3, k&n air, flies out.
last night , jumped on the highway, accelerated really hard all the way up to 150mph and noticed the oil light was on. i immediatly pulled the clutch and rolled to a stop and turned off the bike. i checked my oil level, which was perfect, and cranked back up. light came on again, so i shut it off. waited about five minutes, cranked back up, no light, so i headed back home. my question is what could have caused this? my oil level was good. i dont know how to check oil pressure, and if it was an oil pressure issue, why did the light stay off the second time. hopefully this is just an error on the comp. part or a sensor malfunctioning. i did have one worry, while tightening a wellnut that holds the tank cover. the rubber wellnut broke and fell into the frame. as you fellas know, the frame is the airbox. so had to remove the tank, open airbox, and found the nut laying by the intake ports. could a small piece of rubber possibly been sucked in and somehow clogged up in an oil passage? and when i do say small i mean small because i did not see it when i recovered the main piece

Not likely rubber from that wellnut. If a speck of rubber got sucked into the cylinder, it likely got burned and spit out through the exhaust. First thing I would do if I was you is drain the oil and pull the oil pan to look for gold flakes. If a bearing is starting to spin, gold flakes may be plugging up the oil screen in your oil pick-up, thus decreasing oil pressure. If this is happening, it could be possible that while waiting to re-start your bike, the flakes could have fell from the pickup, allowing oil to flow and making the light go off momentarily.
Not saying you have this problem, but you need to check your oil before you try to start it again.
The same thing you say is happening is what happened to me with my old ZX-12. And if this is the case, you want to catch it before it starts knocking.
It could be a simple oil pressure gauge malfunction too.
Speaking of those cheap wellnuts though, both of mine broke this week when taking my fairings off. I was able to catch the backside of them and pull them through the hole.

Check the sending unit for the oil pressure light. I know that when it gets wet on my 12 it will short and stay lit.

I had to replace my oil pressure sending unit from bottoming the bike out. Checking the oil pressure is easy. You can pick up a gauge that screws into a plug down by the oil pressure sending unit. If the pressure is ok, then it is the sending unit. If it is low then you need to pull the pan like ninjaboy suggested. The pick-up screen and the oil pressure relief valve need to be inspected. The maintenance manual has step by step for all of the above.

That's a light you definitely don't want to see illuminate.
