Header Tightning Sequence

Should I start in the middle and get them snug working outwards, then go back to the middle and give them a final torque working outward again or does it not matter?

good question cause i cant seem to get rid of a small header leak on my smeg.

number 2 been leaking on me. replaced gaskets today, see if the helps.

wow, exhaust leaks where the exhaust meets the head???

Yes, up at the head. I had the same problem, so I installed new gaskets. You can see the difference here:

wow, thanks for the pic. I reused my gaskets in the 14 and never had a leak in that area. had I seen these beforehand, I'd have used fresh ones

+1 i have reused mine so many times i lost count ... I do mine on no order at all ... but i do pull them up even, a little bit at a time ...

If you have the time, drop the radiator out of the way. Its three bolts and loosening the fan cable. Radiator drops down and forward giving you enough room to get in there. Takes about 20 minutes start to finish. This is what I did when I installed my SMEG and had a leak on #3.

Also slip some cardboard on the back of the radiator to protect if from wrench slipping.
