dynoed the 14 today!
Today in the Seattle area, Eastside motosports in Belevue, hosted a free dyno- horsepower only. I was in the area for a ride and went. I was a undecided to let some stranger pin my bike to it's limit but it turned out to be a fun day. Many bikes were there, busas, FZ's R1,R6 as well as Ducati's ect. all crotch rockets. I was there for the best part of 4 hours. My turn came and they strapped her in as I watched from the sideline. I know dynos are just for fun and can be wrong one way or the other. All said and done she laid down the law. I felt a 140 would be good, maybe 150? a whopping 189.98! I was suprised! Good girl!! I dont have the map just right yet so better running is in the future. My new Muzzy yelled out like I have never heard yet... WOW! there was another 14 there, an 08 but he didnt run it. I was proud and rode the shaat out of her the rest of the day. I was suprised the sprayed bikes were well under the 14 by 30 hp? I thought the busa was gonna spank me for sure. it was a very nice bike as well as many others. We do like our machines! dont we! anyway... fun day in the sun. There will be another dyno in the very near future in Lynnwood if anybody is in the area, same guys running it. I'll post when I know more.... Darin

dcjens, you wouldn't happen to go by the name D Joplin on other boards, would you? If so, didn't know you had a 14, too.
Thats some impressive numbers there, though I'm thinking that dyno was running a bit hot. It was a 90 degree day and all... I've been to 4 other bikeshop BBQ's/dyno run days in the last few months and the modded 14's (including mine) are in the 170's with only 2 I saw that hit the low 180's. I have yet to see a non turbo Busa finish ahead of a 14, either. heh heh Good choice we made on bike choices, eh?
Jeezuz you're down in Tumwater and came all the way up here for a bike shops fan appreciation day?!?! Wonder how far you would go for a good mountain road run. Guess if Tumwater is your home you aint the D Joplin I was thinking of...

F*ck me, I'm as busy as that fabled one legged man in an ass kicking contest. Going through the paperwork and inspectors hit list of stuff to fix in order to finalize the sale of my house right now, and in the process of doing the same to the owner of the house I'm trying to buy. I have to be out of my house by the end of the month (as long as her financing stays on track), and I dont think I'll be able to move into the new house (literally and figuratively) by that time. So I have the fun of hotel living until the closing date arrives. And i still gotta pack up the rest of my house. Did I mention Im married with kids? geez... Oh yeah, Boeing decided to send me to Ohio for 10 days, leaving on the 15th. And I still have to pull flies, install PCIII and my new Muzzy M14/M10. Every time I set aside time to do it something comes up!
Long story a bit shorter: by second weekend of August I'll be going for a long ride somewhere, and plan on calling up all you guys and all my other riding buddies for a big goddamned ride to Mt. Ranier and St. Helens. I'm hoping for as many 14's as I can get, I've got 6 guys in mind (including you two now). Also know a couple Busa owners, and a fanatic on a old ass Blackbird with like 6 or 7 camera's mounted on it. Don't know about them, but I'm riding then drinking, sleeping it off in a hotel, campsite, or back alley, then riding again. you guys game for that? An overnighter sounds good to me right now, though its totally open to discussion. Just gotta have something to look forward to after all that shit I gotta do!

Stick I would love to join you on this run. I did the run down the east side of Mount St Helen twice last year on my ZX11 from Randle to Carson. Especisly like the run up to Windy Ridge. In fact that Windy Ridge ride is one of the best (in my opinion) in Washington State. Far better than the Hurricane Ridge ride out of Port Angeles. To many PoPo/Park Rangers and wildlife on Hurricane Ridge.
But!!! I'm already committed to a 6 state/province ride in mid Aug. Only have so much rear tire $.

I got a qn. I've seen many getting close to 200hp on dyno with the Brocks or m10/14. However, I cant get that number here in my country. I was told its due to environment. is it true?
dcjens> u ran the dyno without ramair effect?

paikia, tell the guy running the dyno you want to hit 200hp with your bike, then slip him an extra $20 when his boss aint looking.
Or just use some white out to fix it yourself. Thats about the only way I can imagine a pipe and PCIII only bike hitting near 200hp. Most I've ever seen is 181hp, and I think that guy was using race gas cause it smelled funny enough for the dyno shootout guy to asterick his name on the standings board. he still won though.

Most of these are due to a happy dyno(gives higher than average numbers).
Brock has super light oil, non 0ring chain,no filter, perfect tune and he still didn't hit 200.
Next time you're on the dyno add max tire pressure and watch your HP climb.
Did you try Brocks maps?

Hey Sticks, count me in on any WA state rides if you're looking for 14 riders. I can meet you with my son on the wife's 650r or my '85 900. Only bummer is I have a weekend project, (bank relocation), in Pullman Aug 7-10th. The wife and I are planning at least one run to Seattle over the summer if not two.
