Thanks to Smokin

we replaced the brake fluid, clutch fluid, and radiator fluid in the trusty 14 today. the brake and clutch feel improved significantly, with much firmer lever pressure and smoother clutch operation. the brake fluid used was the galfer brand. it was nice to see fresh clear liquid in the reservoirs. smokin also adjusted the rear brake pedal travel for less movement, making the pedal easier to activate. to the radiator, we added engine ice antifreeze. it was pre-mixed so no additional fluid was added. i was using the original antifreeze and had no problems previously with any over heating. it seems that the bike takes longer to get warm but runs at about the same temperature from what i can tell in limited in town riding so far. i have learned a lot about the 14 from this site, but the people who come here are what makes it so special. smokin volunteered his expertise and experience to make what would have been a daunting task for me, a successful learning experience. he knew every nook and cranny of the 14 which made the maintenance go smoothly and successfully. he even showed me how the mityvac worked to make the bleeding easier. the 14 feels and rides like new. thanks again for all your help and knowledge, i'm lucky to know you. now if the weather would permit, lets ride!

I am flattered that you actually wasted time to go hunt that up and repost it. roflmao. I thought I was wasting too much time just typing this, but I gotta admire you for trying to go the extra mile to be a....what was it.... a douche

not to go off topic, but i went home and changed the oil with some fresh Motul 300v 15w-50, boy the oil filter sure didn't want to come loose, but i persuaded it.....
countersteer, i get a kick out of your posts, and can appreciate your ......dryness
this post could have been accomplished with a phone call, but the fact that this forum gets folks together with similar interests had to be applauded. some of the members like smokin go the extra mile to help the rest of us get up to speed and that deserved a thread. i admit i was entertained by the direction things went after my initial post. now back to the free for all.f#&$ the f^#@ F#$^*&^s.

Countersteer is good for this forum. He gives people the sometimes much needed reminder that it's all to easy to come across as a total D-bag.

This forum has been and continues to be a fountain of knowledge to a wide variety of 14 owners from across the continent and beyond.

The success of this forum depends on the knowledge and camaraderie and the helpfulness of its members… Smokin is and continues to exude all of those virtues and more. It is unfortunate that all too often threads degenerate into personal attacks that do nothing more than tear at the cohesion of our common love of motorcycles and the 14 in particular.

FWIW, buy you a manual and give it a shot.

After seeing the way my local dealership treated my bike, I downloaded a manual offline and learned this shit myself. Clutches, tires, plastics, etc...the money I've saved has all
owed me to buy more shit for me--stands, torque wrenches, and other nice to have(not borrow) stuff for the garage.

NO ONE takes care of your toys like you do...No One.

Props to Smokin'!

lol, you would have a hay day over at m109riders.com... they would ban you in a week. That place is definetly a dictatorship. If anyone bad mouths the sponsors, or curses they get a warning and then if they do it again, they get banned. maybe not quite that harsh... but something like that. The place is full of a bunch of fat old men that think they've got the only good looking bikes on the planet.

went out for a 4th of july test ride the 14 supplied the fireworks! switched to the track map from the maxton and blew it out. triple digits never felt so good. the bike loves all the fresh juice. here are some 4th of july pre ride pics.
