congrats on the remarkable comeback and keep going strong. It's pretty neat getting to be an understudy of someone who has done remarkable things like that. My dad is currently working on rebuilding my grandfathers old BSA dragbike from the 70's. it was a 68? model rocket 3 750 with a 1050 kit in it. My grandpa tells stories of running 9's at houston raceway, but my dad only ever saw it run in the 1000ft. My dad said that he can remember the last time that he ever saw it run. the old pushrod beezer went a 7.56 in the 1000ft. It was built by my grandfather, Jack wilson (owner of big D cycles in the dallas area), and John Minnono who set all kids of records back in the day from bonneville to drag racing to road racing.

Here are a few pictures of the old bsa. It's rough, but a work in progress. can you imagine turning 7.50's in the 1000 ft on this?

back in 1984 i got off my honda 1100f at around 150mph when i overestimated the length of a road at night, i was warming it up to race one of the first ninjas that had just come out, a red 900. i compressed some vertebrae and spent 4 months in a body cast that went from my armpits to my waist. that was a hot summer. i actually rode my remaining bike, a 1980 honda cbx, with the cast still on. once riding is in your blood it never leaves. it still is one of my great joys in life. keep that old trumpet going!

my dad almost had a shitty experience back then too. He and my grandpa were racing in dallas and a car cut them off. my dad had to swerve and his footpeg stabbed into my grandpa's vance and hines 4-1.they were hung up for a few seconds and then when they finally came apart my dad went into a speed wobble and saved it by running up an exit onto the mix master. When they got to big d cycles, jack wilson just shook his head and laughed.
