Oh hell ya they slide. Thats where most of that wear came from, I was slippin and sliding so much I thought I was on a dirt bike. That being said, it was fun doing two wheeled slides under full control. The battleaxe's are such POS that when overheated it was easy to do, and more importantly easy to control. Freaked the hell outta the guys behind me though.

Now that I have 2CT's on the bike, it sticks like its on rails, leading me to believe that when I do slide them gumballs I'll be in for a wild ride when they re-grab! Way way better traction even when cold, better more precise road feedback, too.

Edit: yes, I normally do 'lean' off the bike, but when I want to get the full lean angle to the edge of the tire I barely slide off the seat.

I feel alot more in control when I'm leaning off the bike, all my weight on my feet. It's a good position to be in if you lose traction, less chance of getting high sided and very reduced chance of low siding if you lose your front traction (#1 cause of low side crashes). The problem I had with the stockers is that if I'm slid off my seat, combined with a serious lean angle, the combined weight of bike and rider was too much for the stock tires. It slid every time.

Now with better tires, I can start "pushing" it beyond just neutral balance at weight offset (what you are doing when you lean the bike over, using inertia and momentum to offset gravity). In other words, you normally just lean the bike over to the point that it balances its weight against the bikes forward momentum/inertia. To corner faster than what that will allow, you have to force the bike over into a harder lean than it wants to for the given speed, applying higher g loads than you get with a nuetral/natural lean. It's why a experienced track racer will tell you "getting over into a full lean (no chicken strips) is just the beginning, and by itself doesn't mean much."

You ever read an article about how tire testing editors used street tires and got certain times on a track, then used race rubber and demolished those times? Mostly the same speed down the straights, same lean angles, but they were just able to enter the turns at a higher speeds, forcing it to make the turn. It is at that junction that weight becomes so hugely critical, especially rotating weight of tires/rims/brakes.

99.99% of riders will never experience that kind of cornering. But once you've done it, it's an addiction you will never forget, and always try to replicate and push farther. heh heh

Still working on getting the video clip up here, but I have ridden around town and up the highway and back a few times. They're not deafening at all. IMO they sound great!!! there is a resonance between 2500 and 3k rpms. but I just shift to keep out of that range. Overall I'm very pleased with fit finish and sound.
