zx14 exhaust...D&D or M4

Alright ladies and gents, I have talked to Kawasaki and they said that new pipes would not void my warranty, so now have have to choose which one I want. The best prices I have found have been on Ebay the first is the M4 and the one I think I like the best is D&D. I am looking for some opinions here so let me know what you think.

Actually going with D&D's...had them on the zx6 and loved them, why not stick to what I know. Should be here in a couple of weeks.

I had mine about 12 hours and bandsawed off the stock cans and put on a set of D&Ds that were originally on a Busa, and then the ZZR1200 I traded for the 14. Ran them for a few months untill the aftermarket geared up. They sounded awesome, and performance was very good. Finally replaced them with a Brocks SMEG, gained a little, and love the sound. Still using one of the D&Ds on my Concours 14 with the ZX midpipe.

Just ordered my Muzzy M14/M10 setup. With shipping included, $667!! Full exhaust! Damn what a deal Starcycle has, $300 less than muzzy's msrp.

Now I got to figure out a way to explain to the wife the $667 hit to the bank account. Thats what she gets when she leaves me for a month to visit family. Now I have a month to work extra overtime (as opposed to the amount I already work) or sell something to replace the money missing from our new house downpayment fund. heh heh nothing like a little fear to make things happen.

I have the same Special Edition and I wouldn't put either of those pipes on my bike. Go with the Brock or Muzzy.

You want power and throaty sound, go with Brock. The D&D is just a noise maker.

Hey Sticks! I might be interested in the Brothers you mentioned in the other post. A little strapped right now as I just paid for the 4000 mile service and checking out the problem I had. In addition to that, I also picked up a nail earlier this month and replaced the rear tier. It would be hard sell the wife this month... What would you be asking for them? Could you send a pic?

brocks are to pricey for me. Go ahead and flame me but I really just want my bike to sound good. Maybe if I start Drag racing I'll be worried about HP, but till then, just want to be heard.

I have carbon fiber D&D's on my RC51 just for the "sound." Not really interested in making horsepower on that bike. Now the 14 is another story. Seems as though most people on this forum are looker to go faster as opposed to cosmetics. D&D's aren't the highest quality nor will they make a ton of horsepower but if you are looking for that "bark," you've barked up the right tree. Enjoy your D&D's even if it hurts the heart of most of us trying to make 200 "daily rider" horsepower.

pipes are a personal choice, but after bolting on a brock's street meg and using his mapping on the power commander that i got from brock and of course pulling the flies, the change in the bike is nothing short of amazing. its lighter handles better and outruns anything in sight. this november it will be two years and the pipe looks like new and absolutely no reliability issues. you will get support that is amazing. if you get something else you're just gonna wonder how good your bike could have run while you are scrounging for the right map, and end up spending more later.

zx6reaker,

Did you get the D&D's? If yes how are they? I went for the muzzy SS round can and really like the sound, the noise level is high but that's what ear plugs are for ; )

Yes I got the D&D's and as soon as they get here I will try and post a sound clip. I had them on the ZX6 and loved them, so I am expecting something similiar.

I finally got my D&D's in and on, and they sound GREAT! Very easy to install, took bout 30 min from box to road. I got the street pack and it's not as loud as I was expecting but more throaty, which is awesome. I took a video of the before and after but haven't figured out how to get here yet.

Nice wear Butta, you musta done a track day. Pretty hard to do that on the streets without wearing out the cnter of the tire, too. Here is a pic of my stocker at 4400 miles, mostly driving to work with a couple mountain runs. And yes, I was squiding it - it was supposed to be a slow run until a new guy tagged along on his Aprillia Factory. heh heh he was so annoyed that my big ass on a heavy ass bike pulled on him in the corners AND straights.
