Another day at the track, another personal best
Well for anyone following my mini saga, I went to the track again friday. I only ran a 10.19 but that is almost 1/10th faster than I was running before the gearing change and wheels. I could have gone faster but I couldn't get into 5th at the end of the track. I missed out on probably a 10.05 or something like that simply because I couldn't get into 5th. I was shifting without the clutch but it just wouldn't go into 5th even though I tried like 3 times the last 100ft or so. All in all, a good night. Ran a bunch of consistant 10.2/10.3's which is about 3/10ths faster than I was running consistantly before. I know I have a 10 flat or 9.9 in me.
Just so everyone knows, the track I run at is at 3100ft elevation and my bike and me both weighed in at 744. I am about 235-240 suited. I can't wait until I get to a sealevel track and I run a 9.6 or something similiar. That wouldn't be too bad for my size, stock wheel base, foot shifting and all motor.
Summary:
10.1@136mph but I still had some more in it, if I could have gotten into 5th. The only ones faster at my track are a turbo busa puttin 300hp to the wheel, running 9 flats and a lowered and stretched zx12 thats bored over to a 1297 running 9.8's.

Forgot to mention, my reaction times average between .020 to about .035. I had one bad .085 but that was only one out of 5 runs.
My 60' times averaged from 1.704 to 1.785.

I guess we're both in the pretty much the same boat then. Both our tracks suck and are not condusive to good numbers.
I have a full muzzy, pc3, bmc street filter, 16/43 gearing and carrozerria wheels, stock wheel base, and foot shifting.

ya it just sucks reading about people running 9.70s and up with just a pipe.
if you want to run 9.70s at my track you better be making 230+ hp
hell even the few turbo bikes that we have around here can only run high 9s
there was a nice zx-12 at the track last night slammed and stretched, air shifter, pipe power commander said he had ran a 9.90 in CA that poor guy only went 10.99 he got so mad he packed up his stuff and went home

There was a guy with a turbo busa at the test and tune night. He ran better than I thought with a few 9 flat runs. But with a turbo busa, you'd probably run 8.5 or better on a normal track.
I ran against the guy with the stretched zx12 on my last run. I ended up beating him because he let out of it the last few 100 feet but even if he would have stayed in it, he would have only beat me by 2 or 3 bike lenghts. I was impressed with the power I was making that night. Still in my best run, I would have only been able to go maybe 9.9 and the guy with the stretched and lowered, air shifting zx12 said his best time ever was a 9.6 on the gas. It doesn't show much promise to me. As long as I hit the 9's in my next two times out, I'll be happy.

Shame about missing 5th. Don't know if this is of any interest but my bike is geared 17/40, up one at the rear, running stock wheelbase and foot-shifting. It only makes around 190bhp but I ran some quarters at a meeting in May, sea-level but the atmos' was bad that day and there was a head wind, I got 9.84sec 142mph just using 4 gears.

I'm going to give it another shot in two weeks and a motorcycle race day. Some biker club rented out the track for a day and is having an all bike bracket race. I'll give it another shot then. I figure after about my 2nd or 3rd run I should be at 10 flat or maybe even 9.9 range.
If I would have just stayed in 4th and bounced if off the limiter, I could have gone faster as well. But backing off the throttle 3 times trying to find the gear surely hurt me. If I would have just wound 4th out until the limiter, it would have been a little better. Oh well, lesson learned. I'll dial in at 10.05 when I go back and see what happens.

Just getting into 4th at the end of the 1/4. 10.20 @ 147. stock wheel base 1st gear is the toughest to launch. Enough seat time should fix it. Still @ 5lbs. boost, Michlen pilots. 4225 ft.
