Frame Sliders breaking frames?
I've heard that frame sliders mounting at that same point on the frame are really bad news in a spill -- I've was forewarned by the seller of mine that they are prone to bustin' the frame when the bike hits the pavement.......not sure which slider company or if he meant all of them, but either way it can't be good. Has anyone else heard of this as well?

You are thinking of the wrong area Hellmutt: frame sliders go up at the top engine mount area like on my bike:

There has been a few cases of broken engine cases from frame sliders: there's also been a ton of guys whose bikes went for a slide and the sliders did there job and saved enough of the bike to make it a easy fix versus a totaled bike. IF the slider breaks off part of the frame, the bike is a write off. If you bike slides for any amount of time without sliders to protect it, its also a write off.

On the 14 there is a somewhat larger risk of damage from frame sliders. Look at the length of the slider (aka frame-breaking lever), and you will see why. Some are worse than others.
Obviously spreading the force over a large, flat area (side panels), is going to be less of a risk to the frame and engine mounts.

There was a member here that had a bike at a shop and his bike fell over while it was on the lift.
The frame slider cracked the frame on the left side.
Another member dumped his at slow speed in a parking lot and the frame slider cause the frame to break.
I dropped my bike and she slid down a hill, while lane splitting got rear ended and i rear ended a car and crashed on the left side, had a high speed sweeper pavment lowside and tumble in the dirt , and last she was stolen low sided on both sides and bottomed out .
No broken frames for her and she's gonna hit 60,000 miles soon never having a frame slider installed on her

It's a classic over stress break, not bad welding, in fact the welding done on the frame is damn good ,It's the coller miss ajustment , wrong toruqe value's posted on the net just add's to the confusion, have a helper or be damn careful not to let the toruqe value change while tightening the bolt!
kawasaki = piss poor service , lot's of dealer's with unskilled labor , then check the recall list, Suzuki not looking to good themselves.
BEST PHOTO'S YET OF THE CRACK PROB. THANKS!!
All those drag racer's beating the shit out of those bikes can't be wrong about the strength of the ZX14 , but a littel miss ajustment in one spacer can ruin one instantly !!
Find a welder that know's what he's doing , have it welded, if a so called welder look's at it and makes a face , don't let em touch it , find some one that's not affraid to fix it , after all men built them robot's welded them in the first place!
