ZX10R wheels Vs ZX14 wheels on a ZX14!!

Ok I raced the bike on april with stock wheels on the 14 then I went back to the strip this last weekend with both front and rear 07 10r wheels and here's the difference!!
with stock wheels i went 9.31@147.92mph

with 10r wheels 9.18@148.49mph

The 2 slips together to see the difference!

So you showing better with the 10 wheels

That's very cool. Did you weigh them, by chance?

I'm not saying it's not possible, but I'd be surprised if the difference was only due to the wheels. Maybe weather, track conditions, or some other factors? I don't think I have seen .13 from my carbon wheels alone...maybe .10 (at most) and they are about as light as you can get.

Any other differences? Great to hear that they are a direct swap! For some reason I thought they weren't!

Thanks for showing the comparison, but the difference in ET's came from your quicker 60' times, which really have nothing to do with your wheels.

If you would have had a 1.52 60' with the ZX-14 wheels, you would have went 9.19-9.21.

Every number better at the 60' mark is double the number at the 1/4 mile.

Only the front is a direct swap. I had it on my 14 last summer.
The rear on the zx10 is completely different- axle size, spacers,
brake rotor, brake caliper, brake hanger etc.

Here's the one I had. Sold it on someone here a few months ago.

I think ninjaboy is right about the 60ft maybe im getting more aggressive on the clutch than before! and a few of you guys Im still a newbie and learning how to drag race the bike since I have been doing for a bit over a year!! The 10r front wheel weights almost 3lbs less than the 14 but I didnt have a chance to weight the rear but I can feel there is a difference for sure!

I think you're right maybe the weather and track conditions helped me out but my 60 was a lot better than before too!! Now the front wheel is a direct swap all you need to do is put the 14 brake discs on the 10r wheel and bolt it on! On the rear wheel I had to make some washers and axle adjuster blocks! you can't bolt the 14r brake disc on the 10r wheel so you have to use the 10r and still use it the only problem is the caliper on the 14 grabs only about 40 percent of the 10r disc but i think is better since there is less friction and we hardly use the rear brake at the track.

You use zx10 extesions on the zx14 swingarm to match the different axle size, right?

You could have used a zx10 brake caliper and brake hanger for a complete swap.

Looks good!

Is there a rim that is lighter than the 14 rim that bolts directly up?

The overall weight difference is a couple of pounds with the 12R rotor on the 12R wheel vs. the oem 14 setup.

If you switch to a lighter tire at the same time, you could be looking at 5 lbs. total.

I want another rear wheel to put a drag tire on and I can put a good street tire on my fact wheel so I won't wear tires out so fast on the road. I'd be money ahead instead of buying shinko usoft's all the time.

If any of the zx10 extensions can be fit on the zx14 swingarm
this swap wouldn't be complicated at all- you will be able to
use the axle and the whole rear wheel assembly from the 10.
Well... other than making sure the wheel is centered properly
you wouldn't have any other fitment issues.
You would just need spacers machined which is easy once the
measurements are taken.

resurecting a thread from the dead...could possibly get a set of 04 zx10 rollers (front & Rear) would the front still fit even though its earlier than the 08 model?? also what i gathered from this thread is..

the zx10 front wheel will bolt up perfectly with the use of the zx14 rotors.

the rear wheel will need the use of zx10 axle blocks, axle, and rotor.

correct?
