Metzler now has a new "Chicken Strip" assessment tool built right into their tires.

Sweet! Now we know who's actually burning up the corners or sitting in the garage with some sand paper making up lies!

you can't tell by looking? Rubber that has been on the road has a very different appearance.

I was kidding man!! I truly didn't assume you were sitting in your garage, burling up the rubber on the edges of your tires with some stout 80 grit paper........but yes it is quite a different appearance........the rubber piles up on the lips of the tread edge like it's being smeared to the outsides of the tires. I know -- I've dragged both knees repeatedly -- I do quite a few track days every year up here ( weather permitting that is, after all.....I live in Ohio and if you don't like the weather here.....wait a minute, it'll change -- lol! )

That is nothing short of brilliant!! This will help the tire company sell more tires by darring the rider to lay it a bit more than normal!

I still prefer seeing shiny or melted rubber to determine where if any chicken strips exist.
But there is coolness factor here

It was bound to happen.... I'm just surprised it took so long. Most canyon carvers inherently check out the "chicken strips" at the local mountain hangouts. Although the "assessment" of this condition does not always correlate to someone being faster than someone else (nor does someone being able to drag knees or not).

Oh yes having 0 chicken strip doesn't mean you're the fastest
I know of a rider in his late 60's who is an old racer and a track day instructor who happens to be missing half of his left foot from an old racing accident.
He has big chicken strips but is insane fast on the street! Too fast if you ask me and definitely faster than the 0 chicken strip guys .
