The comments are appreciated, I have a wife and kids that like to ride as well so hence the backrest. It does come off though, so no worries.

you guys may hate the sissy bar, but i've got a wife that doesn't like to ride on the back because she is afraid that she's going to fall off. I could see it as adding a great amount of pleasure to the wife's ride not having to worry as much when the pace gets brisk.

Oh yeah, does it bother you at all not being able to put your single seat cowl on?

Nope not all, I have a stock seat coming as well that I will be sending to Tobin for him to do up with the single bump pad so I can use the cowl again.

Though it may not keep her from falling off, it'll give her the false sense of security that she needs. Kind of like seat belts in a T-bucket roadster. Instead of getting thrown out, you'l just flip upside down and be crushed by the vehicle while grinding into the pavement.

Looks Great J ... that's one "Supersonic Sport Tourer" if I ever saw one, lol. Wife said she'd be a passenger if I had mine set up that way. It serves the purpose and looks clean doing so, I like it.

+1 the bike looks great.

the most uber-facked attribute I've seen regarding the ZX14 seat is the cheesy 4-screw methodology required to remove the cowl.

On our helo we use cam locks on a lot of things instead of screws. Still looks like a Philips head but instead of having threads, it looks like a T that goes into a hole and thing turns to lock it in place. Not a bad concept if someone wanted to make it easier to remove. Another option would be making a fiberglass section and converting to a true single seat giving you a nice sized glove box. I think that i may have to hit the drawing boards and see how hard that would be to do. If anyone can figure out a way to do that and has one made, let me know. I'd be interested in it and i'm sure a lot of others would too.

Handle it!!

I am a "tourer" more than anything else so I like the seat. I have the entire bag set up as well, tank, saddles and seat. Hell, I even have a small bag that wraps the top of the triple right behind the key. The club says I look like a donkey going down the highway, lol. Most guys who race the 14 will not care for it. However those of us who bought the "hyper tourer" for mainly highway service can appreciate it. I would do a seat like this myself if my other half didn't ride her own bike. She hates being on the back, lol. I have never taken my cowl off, I wish there was an easy way to pop it on an off like the 12. I looked at the 14 cowl and it looks involved to take it off and put it back on.

The statement that i made earlier about making a single seat and a large fiberglass shell for the back that would replace the aft part of the seat would be a great place to hide a nitrous bottle.

Same question here..Why stretch it out if you ride on the street..Does it ruin the handling..Sorry but if i saw this in the canyons i would get a good laugh..Looks better in the first picture for the street..Good straight line runner but so is a V-ROD..Don't get it !!

even with it being stretched, it will still handle better than any cruiser on the market. I'm mainly going to be commuting on mine, but i do my fair share of drag racing so i'm going to order an extension as well. Maybe he just doesn't want it to wheelie, or he thinks that it looks better with the extension. Makes more sense for him to do that than for someone to put a Huge swingarms and 240+ rear tire on a sport bike. I think that customs are a fucking waste. To each their own, but i don't see anything wrong with the small amount of stretch that he has. Seems to me that people would be more concerned with the fact that he has a REALLY loud pipe that would make him go deaf on a long ride. V-rod's are okay straight line runners with an assload of mods, but in stock form they're still not in the top 3 for cruisers at the drag strip. Mr. Max, The Rocket3, and the 109 hold those positions. The rod is still overpriced and overrated at best. I guess if you've got the money to waste on a harley, you've probably got the money to fix it up though.

I like the seat but how does it fit? Notice any rubing against paint anywhere? I used Tobin in the past and they do great work but on the busa I did have a few place where the seat would rub and mark the paint.

The bike looks great, i also like the backrest. My girlfriend loves riding on the back as it is, but i am a little more careful with suddenly getting on the gas. I think a backrest for her would help with this and i think yours looks a lot better than the Corbin backrest. How much did it cost to get your seat done up, and did that include the backrest or was that seperate? I use a corbin seat now, so sending my stock seat in to get done would not be an issue.
Thanks,
