MPS No 5-6th with auto air shifter?
I've been having my MPS auto air shifter on a 14 for about a year with no trouble. The bike has never been to the track, just roll ons top end running. My clutch is good & has shims on stock springs My shifter works fine from 1st to 5th automatically or button shifting, BUT it will now NOT shift from 5th to 6th automatically or using the button, Any ideas ?? it will foot shift fine ? I'm stumped??

Tried adding alot of kill, still the same thing, what if the clutch had a slight undectable slippage could this cause this since the motor is under a heavy load at redline & those speeds???

can you adjust the hardware/rod/piston up at all? I'm not familiar with the kit, but you may be able to solve it by moving it up a bit so it will slip into the final gear. Do you have good pressure? Do you you have pressure gauges on your bottle? Low pressure has done this to me, but it was in 4th gear.
If timing didn't fix it, I'd recheck the pressure and plumbing.

now, this is just hearsay, but I heard some guys had to get the shift drum cut...I think they had super short kill times though...
ask chip hunter what they were doing for his...

is it going in, then poping out, like a false neutral, or just not leaving 5th, and grabbing 6th?.
sounds like forks or shift drum detent....

Its not shifting 5ht- 6th under a load at hi rpm using the shift button or auto shift. If i load the shifter with my foot & blip the throttle it goes right in?????
One of the only things i did is take the air solenoid valve out the loop(unplugged electr connection) & put a 22ohm resistor in its place???
Someone just said that in the manual that ; The 'air switching valve' is a 2-wire signal. You need a 3-wire sensor to have a code, is my observation reading the shop manual wire diagram.
Therefore, you will not code the switching valve because the one wire ties into the spark box, not the ECU. The other wire ties in with other wires that eventually run to a (relay) and eventually grounds to complete the circuit.
?????????? I'll try removing the resistor & see where that brings me

Yes & No, I have an igniton module on the 14, it seems to cause intermidate interfernce with the shifter system, I had also had a resistor pugged in where the air solenoid valve was which this wiring ties into the "SPARK' system, When i took the resistor out it worked on the button & auot shift, then i had some different problems.

make sure the shifter is adjusted for full stroke travel, in all gears?
seems like the shifter must come up a little more for each taller gear, maybe its just not got enough travel to pull the lever up enough?

sometimes i get this bug on my zx14 but not just 6th but all gears are subject ...leaves me with a false sense of security ... pressure , travel, everything good then bamm everyting goes bad then it fixes itself ... i can't find problem either

I put a little air tool oil in my line once in a while to keep the cylinder lubed....sticky cylinders suck, Oh and ran a 90degree fitting and 6 inch hose,on exhaust side to help keep dust ou of the ram when street riding.

Does your shifter use an auto shiftbox(MPS)? Do you have any timing advancer plate or ign module on the bike???
