Looks like an EASY oil change.

I noticed on my '08 while I was cleaning it underneath that I can access the filter and plug without removing any fairings! That is GREAT! How's it work out for you guys? Is it just like that? I will be changing mine soon and it looks just that simple compare to having to take the whole side fairing off of my old 636.

you are correct! It is the easiest oil change ever! (This includes all years of the 14 06-08)... It does get a bit tight if you have a 4 into 1 aftermarket pipe.

The hardest part of the oil change on my 14 was unscrewing the tops on the oil bottles.

I have my bike everynight up on rear and front stands. I've always owned a pair of stands. They're mandatory. Plus they're good for winter storage to keep the tires off the ground. And they're good for lubing the chain, cleaning the bike, spinning tire around to put air in them too. You HAVE to own a pair with a bike.

I used a sweet forward-handle Pit Bull stand. Not only to change oil but to clean it, work on it, etc etc etc

This stand:

+1

you will be amazed how much you use the rear stand.

I use a front stand too, but usually only for taking off and putting on tire warmers at the track or taking the front wheel off. The rear stand is used constantly.

Would you be able to direct me to the site that sells slip ons and commanders as a pair for a reasonable price I remember seeing on here before.

I use a rectangular steel cake pan. No clearance problem and holds all the oil. (Barely!)

Haha, now THAT is ghetto! If you can purchase a 14, you can purchase a nice oil pan from an auto store and a set of stands.

The oil plug does look vulnerable compared to other bikes I've noticed.
