stuck in 6th gear
this is what happen. I rolled out from the shop on Saturday for a good ride home. before i left the shop i turned onthe air shifter for a rocket ride out from the shop
i rolled inthe throttle then pinned it i felt the tire spin then catch so i hit the button 1 time then then i had to roll out that swhen i saw that the gear select said 6th gear?
so i tryed to down shift it would not. i stop then tried it still would not shift . i did get it to pulloff in 6th gear so i rode on home not good on the clutch but i made it home i turn the bike off and it shifted down from 6th no trouble. i set the bike up on a stand and started it ran it through the gears no trouble no noises. off the stand and out to the lake road for a hole shot and on the air shifter no trouble. but this does make me wonder what i may have bent. has this happened to anyone

No one answered here, either? Well to my ears it sounds like low air pressure caused it. Could also be a bad switch or a short in the wiring. Definitely not in the transmission IMO. It is related to your air shifter only, and I've seen air shifters do the rapid multiple shift just as they ran out of air before. Refill your air tank and retry it. If the gauge reads full, try another gauge. Good luck!

Usually won't shift when spinning, but maybe it did shift thru to 6th and when you shut
it off in gear, it didn't want to down shift without the tire moving.
Make sure the shifter is not binding. Since tranny problems ususally don't go away i'd say your ok.

TC I actually had this problem when I was Racing on a friends 14. I shifted to 4th (footshifting) and the gear caught, slipped out, and caught real hard. All in less than a second. We shut down before I had to shift into fourth, but when I went to downshift it wouldn't. It was stuck in 4th. Took off again and tried to downshift but it still wouldn't. Well, I head home to give him the bad news and prepare the pocket book but When I got close to the house, the shifter started working again. Did the same in taking a test drag run and no porblems. To date he has not informed me of any issues and we are now about 4 months later. here is the post i put up:

I too had a mystery stuck shift problem with the 3-2 downshift. got caught in a mystery neutral that took a really hard downshift -with a crunch- that put it into third gear again. Yes, a downshift FROM third that, with another downshift after the false neutral, put it back into third. Has happened 3 times. 2 of those times were when I pulled out into oncoming traffic for a pass. Been over 1500 miles since the last one though. Maybe once the tranny broke in it stopped. FYI I had between 500 and 2000 miles during the episodes.
