best exhaust

I'm new to the forum and needed some help getting the right exhaust. I just bought a 2008 zx14 and wanted to know which exhaust will give me the most horsepower gain, muzzy of brock?

The M-14 is not realeased yet I have heard good things about it. IT should make close to the same power as the SMEG or Alien head but you wont get near as good support with the muzzy as you will the brock. but if you plan on spending the money to have custom maps made then that is not an issue good luck with either one. Just avoid the YOsh pipes and the regular oval can muzzy. I have also heard good things about the tiForce I think BobC and JesseJames both run a TiForce and have had good luck with it hopes this helps

Hey BlackMagic,
I'm just curious why someone should avoid the regular oval can Muzzy? I've ran them for years with good service and my son Zack ran 199.3mph at Maxton with a Muzzy & PC in October on his 14.
I gotta agree though that Brock is number 1 is customer service, that's why I chose his pipe recently for my 14. While I didn't choose a Muzzy this time, I'm a long ways from avoiding one.

muzzy everything on my zx12, have both the oval carbon can and megaphone - completely satisfied. when i had the 1375 stroker it sounded sick! if i choose to uncork the 14, id go with an orient express. i guess im partial because i live about 30 minutes from the shop :P

Jay,

You will get many answers based on personal preference. Brock makes an excellent pipe and as everyone has said has customer service that is second to none. This makes a lot of us very partial to Brock. He answers his own e-mails personally and if you have a problem he will make it right personally. You don't get that kind of service from most companies today.

That being said, most pipes are within 4 or 5 hp of each other and a lot of the decisions come down to personal preference. Here is my $.02.

Brock, Akro, Muzzy, Ti-Force

Buy what you like, what looks good and what sounds good and enjoy. It's not that serious!!

The M14 is in production now. The production version dynoed better than the proto type we originally tested with Rickey.

It should be a monster then!! Rickey siad really good thing about the prototype he had.

oldkawboy, I dont want to start this up again as I have changed my opinion on muzzy products in general. I have had some bad experiences with dave and some other guy when I called but that has nothing to do with their product. The reason I stated what I did about the Oval muzzy system is simple and I dont need to ask anyone about it cause I did it myself... Here in my town we had 5 guys that bought ZX14's as soon as they came out. 3 of them work at a Kawasaki dealer and get great prices on Muzzy merchandise. well to make a long story short they bet me that their muzzy oval can pipes made more power then my SMEG so off to a dyno we went. one of the local racers who is young but well off owns his own dyno in his garage at home a dynojet 250 so we took all our bikes and put them on the dyno then when my bike made better power they said it wasnt fair cause I had more miles on my bike then they did SO!! we ran 3 different pipes on MY BIKE that same day and on the same dyno!!!!! with no changes made to the maps SUPPLIED with the system I was runnin Brocks Original street map with no flies and one of the other guys had the map he got from Muzzy. Well to just cut to the point my brock SMEG made 8 more peak HP then the muzzy. No dyno tricks no nothing... Now keep in mind I paid 1100 bucks for my system and I think they paid 600 or something for theres. So in price they win hands down. Here is another testament if you are like me and dont put a lot of stock in what a dyno says. about two weeks later one of the local bike clubs rented an eigth mile track for the weekend so we took our bikes to the track. we were all at this time stock length with no other mods besides Pipes Power commander and flies out. the two guys with the muzzy pipes had consistently the same MPH between 112-114 on a total of probably 20 passes or more over the weekend. THE LOWEST MPH my 14 had that weekend was 119 and I think if i remember correctly the highest was 120 or 121 but dont quote me cause I am not sure.

WIth all that being said I am not knockin the muzzy oval can you cant beat for an affordable street pipe but if you want MAX performance then I would go with the Brocks SMEG or the TiFOrce or the M-14.

P.S. two other little tidbits. we also tested the Yosh system on my bike that day and it too was way down on power. and a few weeks later we tested the Gen 3 brocks system on my bike and it made 5 HP less then the SMEG so the muzzy theoretically is only 3 HP less then the gen III for almost half the price.

Hope this helps

Also Mr. Muzzy if you would be interested in a real amatuer assesment of the new M-14 if you would like to send me one I will run it ALL SEASON!!! and give honest reports back to everybody and then send the pipe back to you in october. I would really like to try this pipe and if I had extra money laying around I would buy one to run for the season just to check it out. Mr. Muzzy I hope you dont think I am trying to be a smartass or bash your products I AM NOT. I have a lot of respect for you and a lot of respect for Rickey Gadson, and Rickey has told me flat out several times that the M-14 makes KILLER POWER!!!!! and that it is a great pipe. So again If you would send me one I would be more then happy to run it all season and will be a great advertiser for you if the pipe performes like I believe it will. And at the end of the season I will either send you the money and keep the pipe or return it.

Thanks
Matt Works

P.S. I also have a lot of respect for Jerry at Jerry's Triumph in Little Rock Ar. and he says really good things about you as well

Dyno numbers don't tell the whole story. Which pipe will get you down the track the fastest?

That is the question.

If you check back in the history of the 14 forum you will see that someone gets a new 14 every three weeks and asks the question which pipe is best.... and then the comments, arguments and bashing start all over again. For any people new on the forum please use the search function and you will find out what you want.

We do want to hear from new people but using the search functions will answer 99% of your questions.... until a new pipe comes along, of course.

GO MUZZY!! Muzzy has forgotten more about making horsepower than many of the competition has ever known. I remember watching muzzy kawis kicking ass over everyoone. the perfected muzzy machine was and is a very formidable opponent!! I still get chills from watching the videos of the muzzy superbikes on the straight at daytona!!! if you want the most horsepower buy a muzzy and if you want the best map support buy a muzzy. Brock doesn't make his pipes plus he won't give you a map unless you buy his pipe direct. buy it used and you could be screwed. my buddy finally got a borock map from a friend and then received a muzzy map.... the muzzy dynoed better.
