did a pipe change improve carving
to you guys who like the canyons, did an exhaust system(loss of weight) improve handling. i almost traded my 02 , for an 08 zx-14, today. now i am thinking of having both bikes, because i am afraid the zx will be too heavy for the backroads. someone posted a 30 pound weight savings going to a muzzy system. i would think you would feel that in the corners. heard that lightweight wheels make a huge difference, but cost $2500. guess that would be cheaper than keeping 2 bikes. are my concerns unfounded, or does the zx-14 really start "showing" its heft in the corners. thanks for the input.

"i would think you would feel that in the corners"
one of the main reasons I changed my exhaust to a brock's gen 3 was cornering. I lean my bikes and noticed an IMMEDIATE difference after losing all that weight.
I'd have been lower with knee pucks on, but pics of my 14 on the deal's gap twisties here: http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=8&TID=35917&set_time=1201666921

I saved 15 pounds from stock weight when I changed my pipe to Area P carbon slip ons, the difference was noticable in the canyons. The bike moved quicker from side to side. For Canyon work, it seems simple to say, but always make sure you have the right tire pressures. That makes the biggest difference of all for handling, my pressures are at 39 pounds front and rear. Also get your suspension set right for your weight at a competent bike shop, it makes a big difference also.
