I was there in Gulfport Mississippi in 1980 for this event as a spectator. Drag racing has come a long way since then as well as the bikes. Nothing sounds quite like the old Kaw big bores with lumpy cams and no fuel injectiion. RUN WHATCHA BRUNG !

Lil bit of history there.. nice video, still got a '77 KZ1000. Got it new March of '77. Did the same thing to them back in the day.. pipe (Kerker 4 into1), sprockets, shocks, fuel,etc. 45,000m spit a shim out the front. Parked it.

I sold my mint condition 78 Z1R to buy my ZX14, no kidding. I still have a 77 kz1000 show bike though.

That was awesome!! I didn't race that far back but it still reminds me of the good old days of the mid 80's!! GS1100 and 1150s, GPZ1100s, 900s, 750 Turbos, FJ1100 and 1200s, VMax, CB1100fs to name a few.
