thanks to k bryant for releasing REALISTIC 2008 ZX10 numbers.
quote: Here are the results. Extremely impressive.
Baseline - 157.4 hp, 74.05 tq
Area P Slip-On - 164.05 hp, 75.3 tq

This bike had 250 miles on it. It responded very well to the exhaust change. Plus 6.7 hp and 1.2 tq increase peak. Very strong low and mid-range increases as well. Interesting to note that the new ZX10 pulls hard all the way to the soft limiter (13000 rpm) and just starts to level off. It was almost 12 hp stronger at its peak, over the OEM muffler at the same rpm. This trait is particular to the '08 model and shows how strong the motor is with our exhaust. The Area P Slip-On tested was with our large 2.5" core. The A/F curve was within specs and no change was required. A PC3 or kit ECU may further enhance power.
Interesting note - with the Area P Slip-On installed, the '08 ZX10 makes more horsepower than the baseline stock runs of our '08 ZX14. As normal, all our runs are done using SAE settings. STD will of course be higher.

You know what's more funny than those hp numbers? Living your life in a magazine...pretending that the 2% difference in overall performance is something tangible for the demographic.
I say, buy the bike you like...not the one that the media proclaims the champ.
A lot of '08 1000RR riders will be smoked by 4 year old 636's.

Yes those Gixxer and ZX10 2008 numbers are realistic.
And Shane, I can do MUCH faster lap times on my 600 CC bike than any litre bike I've ever owned. And I have both in the garage. The 600 buzz on the street I don't like, so its a litre bike for me when I'm ho'in, 600 CC racin'
The cornerspeeds and short breaking distances of a 600 are hard to beat!

I still can't imagine folks would believe these magazines about the 2008 ZX10 in the first place regarding "stock" 170 HP

Has the 08 CBR even hit the streets yet that is the one I wanna see and ride!!!
and speaking of middleweights I might have a new edition to the stable soon, my wife has fallen in love with the new ducatti 848 and if the numbers are right about the 134 HP I will get rid of the 07 zx10 I have and get her the Duke just so I can ride it.

my eye is on the 848 in white too. and I've never been a duc fan, just never owned one and that thing looks like a natural knee dragger!
I have been suspecting the blade will outperform the ZX10 for '08 and been getting beat up for it around here
