ZX 14 08 vs 07 comparison-MCN
The blokes across the pond have done a good job explaining the basic differences between the 07 and 08 ZX 14, testing both at what appears to be an airport runway. There is also a dyno chart overlaying both models for horsepower and torque.
Bottom Line: Top End HP is the same, but the torque between 4K-6K is substantially improved.

Haven't read it yet, my wife's bringing it home tonight. It's not quite as simple as opening the butterflies earlier. The Kawasaki press release indicates that the cylinder head flows better to win back the bhp lost in the 3 Cat exhaust system, so surely when the restrictive standard system is gathering dust at the back of the garage and a Titanium full system is fitted the top-end should be better than the 06/07 in a similar state of tune.
At least that's what I'm hoping.

I've compared the 08 head to the 07. No changes other than the air injection port in the exhaust port is bigger.

Just looked again at the data, you're right it's the secondary air ports that are 20% larger and the air switching valve that flows more air, which is all about emissions levels. The injectors lateral spray angle has gone from 15 to 20 degrees, other wise it seems to be the same. Kawasaki are still claiming more peak power for the 2008 though, perhaps it's nominal (aka small).

I don't see anything that adds up to new hp.
Same bore , stock, head and compression. What did I miss other than tune?
Every 06 vs 08 dyno chart I see show 1-2 hp difference, with 08 getting the edge down low.
Anybody got 2 bikes 06/ 07 they can dyno , I'll bet the the 06 Blue is 1-2 hp over any other color.
Add 3 degrees of timing, 5 more psi to the tire, wd40 the chain and dyno on a cooler evening and I'll bet either will stomp these old dyno numbers. No knocking the 08
just don't see where they upgraded the 08.

Likely ignition curve, optimized ECU program and better fuel atomization with the change in the injector angle. A few degrees of timing can add up. They could also be dialing the cam timing a bit to change the spread of the powerband as well. The dyno cannot measure the effect of ram air, I sure with that in the mix the output on the 08 is likely 7-9 HP higher than earlier models.
