Motorcyclist Mag says 9.65 1/4 for ZX-14
Test was performed by Rickey Gadson.
The article also said another drag racer who has to stay anonymous because of contractual obligations, tested 08 Busa and 08 ZX-14 back to back, 20 runs each, and they are dead even. The time slips and results look like they came from one bike! Best run with the Busa was 9.23 @ 151.5. Zx was 9.24 @ 150.0. Both were totally stock, including tires. Both were lowered (stap and lowering link).

I have a hard time believing that time for the Busa with it's retarded torque limiting clutch. Anyone else smell bullshit?

Those times are probably right on and if the would have done 21 runs the 14 could have went a 9.22. it's going to be that close. And as far as the Busa clutch there's nothing wrong with it. companys come out with a mod that's suppose to make the clutch better and some guys buy it then all of a sudden everyone thinks it's a must have. I got a 1.610 60 ft the second run on my 08 with a bone stock clutch and with a few more runs could have got a 60 ft in the 1.50's. I rode an 05 Busa this year less then 10 runs and had a 1.57 12000 miles on the bike and 500 runs and clutch is bone stock, the guy that owns it goes 1.50's all day long as well. don't alwas believe every thing you hear, if people keep saying the Busa clutch sucks then there's lots of money to be made off of clutch mods. For me I will take the Busa clutch over the 14's any day it fits my launch stlye better. I could not get better then a 1.64 60 ft on the 14 stock wheelbase after 100 passes. Not because there was anything wrong with it just did not like the feel.

You own a Busa you will need more than the clutch mod to go fast ...if you add stronger springs you will need a slave cylender support.... If you want to go real fast you will need a slider clutch...Don't believe me ask any guy on the Busa site that are going fast and they will tell you..
You will be hard pressed to find any stock clutch Busa running 1.38 footers But you will find a bunch of zx14 owner going that fast and faster with a stock clutch..

It does not take a slider clutch to pull high 1.30 to low 1.40 sixty fts on a Busa. there is a guy at my track pulling 1.42 to 1.44 stock clutch and he wieghs 260 unsuited. thats a 1397 at 64 inches. sure his weigh is keeping him out of the 1.30's. he is a good rider. I'm asking about the carpenter clutch mod in that thread because i won't spend 200 plus on a mod i don't need but for 70.00 i would try the carpenter mod just to see if it helped my 60 fts which i don't think it will.

I can't beleive Sazook designed another bike that folks immediately find themselves opting for clutch mods!?

I didn't SAY NEVER ....I said you will be hard pressed to find a busa without clutch mods running that low ..We have a lot of pro Busa riders around here and they will all tell you that you need the clutch mod ..Don't forget i had two Busas and they both needed the clutch mod .....! Little Vic told me after 4 passes on an 08 Busa that the stock clutch is a problem and Vic has one of the best clutch hands around ...If i got a new Busa it would be the first thing i would get for the bike ..

I think the biggest mod sold for the 08 is the gsxr 1000 lookin tailpiece that custom sportbike concepts is about to start selling, it LOOKS SICK and its only like 600 bucks. It is making me consider a busa when I turn the 14 into a dedicated drag bike!!

You got a link to that tail piece ??? The tail is the biggest hold back from me buying an 08 Busa ..

I saw the same article at a magzine stand in the grocery store. That is what was said. Go check it out for yourself. It has the Silver 08 ZX14 on the cover.
It just makes you wonder what they will come up with for the next gen bikes.

Maybe we will start to see the Busa's coming back out to play. Summer of '06 there were always about a dozen or so street tire Busa's at BMP to run with. By the Summer of '07 there were only 2-3 if you were lucky. Now it seems that the "bike night" Busa rider that talks about how fast he is doesn't seem to want to show up at the track and face a staging lane full of 14s. Not to say that there aren't any Busa's whatsoever because the hard core track bikes have continued to represent, but other than Johnnie Turbo's new bike no '08 Busa's are running at BMP yet.
