LOL Blackmagic I was purposefully NOT beating that dead horse again! LOL

Jeff, they didnt make an '04 model. It stopped in '02. You are thinking of an SV1000S, the lower powered and worse suspended stepchild of the TLR. But $3300 for an 2004 is a good deal on one of those. I'm selling mine right now for the going rate, $4500. With 15K on it and a bunch of mods. Will do $4000 in cash if you got it! lol

I've got pics posted around in a "Pictures" post somewhere here.

Thats what I've been saying for weeks n months now! So the hell what if it cant hang with a 1000 on a straightaway??? Wasnt aware that "Sport Bikes" were meant to be "Drag Bikes" too. With a bike like the SV-650, it will literally TEACH YOU how to be a better rider. Totally forgiving with high handling/braking potential, so easy to corner that all you have to do is think about turning and it does. Feels like an extension of your body within a few short miles. I'm seriously contemplating getting one for my son, actually. But it will still be "mine" so he will have to buy his own before he graduates. He tells me he doesnt really want to ride a bike. Have to change that mindset soon! He's the perfect candidate: Smart, focused kid who insists on perfection, great balance and a general lack of fear, combined with respect for consequences. (I'll take credit for at least that last one!)

And for the record, he is 6'3" and growing, 15 yrs old now and I guestimate he will be 6'6" or so by the time he stops growing. I'll still recommend strongly he gets a SV 650

yep, it's an 03' in the fastest color (yellow & black) the TL sounds and grunts like nothing else

You have got to get over to TLZone.net or TLPlanet.com... ALOT of good people and infot about the TL's and their quirks... Tons of mods for the TL and some amazing bikes.

hope to see you there.

TLS was in production from 97' to 02' the TLR from 98-03'

the SV1000s and Vstrom are basically the same engine (some parts are interchangeable but not all)

but the lovely lines and curves have been discontinued.

Appears you're right. I initially thought it was made until 2003, but my manual states 98-02, and a couple "online" sites said 2002 also. Funny, the internet wasnt right for once--err, twice-- err, nevermind...

You'll like this quote from Epinions.com
"If you're in the market for a big twin, but you can't go Italian, then this is a great bike. It's big though. You'll need to be a big physical rider. Or if you're undersized like myself at 5'7", then you'll need to pretend that you're a big physical rider. The bike responds well to strong input. Much like one of those Tigers out in Vegas, that they always warn you about. "This animal can tear it's trainer's head off in an instant. But the trainer's assertiveness and strong demeanor keep the lion in line." Right..."

yep, that about describes the Tiller... it is a wild animal that has just bairly been taimed. Give it a chance and it will toss you on your head and run you over.

it is a heavy "feeling" bike, but lowering the tree at the forks makes it more agile.. It is on the phat side now as well, the newer bikes are lighter and more powerful but the TL is the only bike I have ever owned that has actually turned people around in the parking lot to try and figure out what is wrong with my "yellow Busa?" or why my Gixxer sounds like that..

I actually had a harley guy ask me what the hell I was riding... told me it "sounds like Thunder, goes like lightening"... well a TL of course... TL stands for thunder and lightening *S*

Well Rifleman, just sold it late last night. Hated to see it go. REALLY hated to see it go. Was very close to telling him "nevermind its not for sale". But he is a good guy driving up 2 hours at 10pm on a Tuesday to get it so I didn't. Damn, I had to go and wash and wax it a couple days ago, too. Would rather have seen a grungy dirty bike leaving I think. lol

19K miles indicated, 15K actual. 2002 model yellow and black (partial custom). $4000 cash in envelope wasnt too hard to turn down. Kinda wish wife wasnt there when it happened. Cuzz then the 'selling price' woulda only been $2500 I think.

Honestly, though. I think I would have been happier just giving it away to someone I knew would appreciate it and lived locally so I could still ride it occasionally. The guy that bought it already has a Honda Blackbird as his primary bike...
