news flash. the stock 14 isnt any faster than a stock busa. they're both limited to 186. if you go faster than that you have modified the bike and it isnt stock anymore.
i was at maxton when chad was there on the 14 and it wasnt stock. scott guthrie took a stock busa with the mirrors still on it and went 192 at maxton. this was before the bikes were limited and with stock gearing. no changes made to it, just like you would get it off the showroom floor. thats what stock is and guys that go to maxton or bonneville and change the bike up arent really running stock.

I think most are concerned with quarter-mile times rather than top speed runs according to what I've been reading. Maybe I'm losing my mind though (which is probably the case anyway)

The bike was lowered so it wasn't stock either if you want to get technical.

We all know about the speed limiter...The early busa will ways hold the true top speed record for a stone stock ,off the show room bike because it came with NO limiter ...That's why Maxton rules let the new bikes have gear changes as well as aftermarket speedo healers to remove the factory limiter ....So now chad holds the stock production record of 196.1 ..Now here comes the 08 busa or a 08 zx14 off the show room ( stone stock ) someone will put a speedo healer on it and break Chads record....I bet money the Busa guys will say it counts... I can hear it know >> STOCK busa beats the zx14 ass in top speed ...But if it's a zx14 that set a new stock production record at Maxton it will be >>> OH that fucking Kawi guys cheated and the bike is NOT stock .....

See that is what i was just talking about .....it's ok for the Busa guys to make up their own rules on what is stock......Busa guys will say the Kawi guys Didn't run a stock bike because it didn't have stock air in the tires ...

point taken. i have this same debate at the busa site. i know how good of a bike the 14 is and how well it responds to mods. it gets alot of respect. both of these new bikes are going to be badass. it will be the rider that makes the difference. if you listen to most of the busa guys they dont have a clue about the 14. most of them dont know how to ride and they are out there talking shit and then someone on a 1000 blows them away and they cant figure it out. but that goes both ways. most of the 14's and busa's at texas in march couldnt get out of the 170's.

I agree 100% 08 Busa Vs 08 zx14 it's going to be all rider in 08.... The bikes are just to close to call and both will be great bikes ...Pick the one you like and have fun !!!!

This is very funny. It reminds me of me and my Chevy buds going at it. I drive a 1200 RWHP Mustang and most of them have Chevy's and it is the SAME debate over and over and over.

I will add that WHO CARES about either bike in stock form?........WHO on here buys either bike and leave that mofo alone? NOBODY! Just stop the bitch fest, buy what the fug ever you want to buy, run it, post the numbers and go from there. This chit is just stupid because both bikes are soooo close that it aint funny. I personally bought the 14 because the busas are everywhere and the 14 was the newest machine out. I grew up on Suzuki's, in fact my very first bike was a Suzuki RM50 back in 1979. I was then hooked on nothing but Suzy but "times change and let the good times roll."
