a few Daytona pics
Its always been a dream of mine to ride the Daytona track and it came true this weekend.
We got cut short because Eric's Erion exhaust broke and the result was the bike catching on fire. We tried so hard to get another exhaust, even a stock one and couldn't find one anywhere around Daytona beach. We packed the bikes, and generator at that point and just hung out and went everywhere around the track and attractions on the quad 4-wheeler.
But I spent good time on the track and am totally content. Hitting the huge banks wide open was such a thrill, although I didn't realize just how rough that pavement is. The horseshoes/tight turns were great for some knee-dragging, and that track seemed like it had glue all over it (traction was so good). The track was real hard on soft race tires though.
We didn't get professional pics of us on the track this trip, but here are a few pics:
Phone cam pic - we are packed and leaving with a big Suzuki quad to get around the track area

Generator is a HONDA too! Wow it served the 4 tire warmers, fans, tools, etc just wonderfully

Tag on Eric's trailer

Some duc Eric took a pic of

Us set up

Our friend Greg sets up RIGHT at the track

Broke Erion exhaust

When they flagged Eric off the track and extinguished him, the damage is obvious

So then we had fun around the spectator stuff and I tortured a Yamaha Rhino

Kawasaki tent: When Danny (Old KawGuy) and his fine Kawasaki team was not looking, I jumped over the cable and hopped on the 2008 ZX10 and Eric snapped a pic, what what a bike!

But here is what everyone at the race track was raving about, the new Ninja 250. More anti-Kawasaki people I spoke with raved about it then anyone which I found odd. This bike is sweet and I have a list of questions for Kawasaki Danny or his team maybe can help with like will the 500 front suspension (dual rotors) work on it like the old Ninja 250, can the clips be lowered/rear pegs removed, who is going to be making race plastics for it first, etc etc

Again is what great seeing Danny Oldkawguy and Victor LeoVinceZX14, and also I met some folks from DaytonaDave's forum, local sportbikers that are super nice people.

Daytona...Saturday...
Steve:
Go to see you and Eric in the pits. Glad the "fire" got handled. Despite the rain we got a good result to end the year with. Any time at the track is time well spent.
Ride Safe...
