This bites ass!!! My Bike fell!!!

I'm sitting in the driveway suited and booted waiting for a friend to come thru so they can follow me to a bike event. Now I'm sitting on the bike with the kickstand downand my feet resting on the pegs.. Well I decide to walk back to the garage, so i get off the bike and take about 5 steps and I hear a very expensive noise..

I turn and run up to my baby. Pick her up from the ground and the mirror is snapped off and the fairing is all scratched up. So after a quick session of cursing the gods.. I'm off to the event with my bike all freaked up.. Thank God i can do body and paint work.. not alot of damage but enough to piss me off.

Oh and hears the best thing. My frame sliders came in the mail the next day.. LOL

sorry about your bad luck. i never trust that stand. i try not to park the bike in uphill or downhill area and i always leave mine in first gear and move it forward as much as it can go and then put the kickstand down and double check make sure it is all the way to the end.

They are a set of chrome sliders that you don't have to cut anything. Got them off Ebay for about $50.00.. I also ordered my replacement carbon look mirrors from ebay.. I was going to do the bike in chrome accents. But I decided on carbon fiber instead..

Take a rotary grinder and slot the kickstand where it hits the stop. This will let it go further forward so it will lean fruther. One of the first things for me. Then I lowered the bike and had to shorten it a little more. You can see it in this pic.

I have two stands, the normal length one and a cut-down. It's just the regular Kawasaki part from which I removed the foot, cut off about 3/4 inch and welded the foot back on. I put the shorty on when I lower the bike for the track. A five minute job to change with a spring hook and spanner.

Sorry but I have never liked That GREEN. Which is why I bought my bike Black.. But it does give me an excuse to gets upgraded parts with out sneaking them pass the wife.. She was "baby!!! How bad can it be? It just fell over." Then she went out to the garage and said "when we get back from Vegas order all the parts you need to fix it."

So now it will be either chrome or carbon fiber accents.. The race in me whats Carbon fiber, but the bling whats Chrome..

I hate that happened to you. I would've been pissed too and I wouldn't be in any mood to go to any event after that. This same thing sorta happened to me in my garage when I was pushing my heavy ass hell, ZX-11 into the garage and the bike starts to fall away from me to the right. I'm walking it on the left. There was nothing I could do to keep it from falling. Lucky though, there were a lot of boxes and stuff on the right side of the bike that kept my bike from hitting the ground. That was too close!

Already started the repairs. i will take some pics started with 220 grit for the gouges. hand sanding in linear and finishing motions to get everything smooth( your fingernail shouldnt be able to catch any gouges).. I had a crack on the upper panel were the bigger allen screw attaches to the frame. It was a clean break so I glassed it on the backside 9 scuffing it first to give the glass something to hold on too.
Then I mixed up some bondo and using the bondo spachula applied a thin coat of bondo. Sanded it smooth with 220 grit, Then spattered/spritzed it with black paint so i could see the high/low spots and went to work with the 400 grit. After I got it even with the 400Grit. i applied blue Glazing putty ( this fills all the little pin holes) started with 400grit til it was smooth and then wet sanded with 600grit .

I removed the NINJA sticker with a heat gun, being very careful nopt to warp the plastic. you can use a hairdryer but be careful to not warp the plastic. And you can use Acetone to remove the glue residue or your wifes fingernail polish remover.. Works good.

Whats left you ask.. I have to hit it with a coat of sandable primer and wet sand that with 600grit and then shot the whole panel..

Only telling you guys this just incase you have the bad luck I did. And paying someone $50 bucks to shot it is alot better than $250

I was strapping my frontend down on the trailer, getting ready to go to the track. I got one side strapped and went to other. I got a couple clicks on the strap and POP! The other strap came loose and down the bike went. I got soooo lucky, the handlebar end caught the siderail of the trailer and saved the bike from getting scratched up. All that happened was the barend got scuffed and the grip got tore a little. Man was that thing heavy to pick back up! I double check my straps now

same here - one stand just isn't enough.
