My ZX-14 has a new buddy.

Cell phone cam doing duty today, the Sony's battery is flat.

Evil has returned. Lord Sauron, your bike is ready.

Real carbon fiber ramscoops, somebody dropped a grip on 'em.
The finish on them is very shiny! You can see the reflection of the truck.

Picked it up from Austin yesterday from a independent bike repair shop for $2000. It's a 1991 with 31K on the clock, new tires, new fork seals, full tune up and valve shim job. What's weird is this bike dosen't wobble on decel or speed like the 2000 I owned or the other newer ones I've seen. Hell, I was taking it up to 120 with one hand on the bars on the return trip! I think they built them better in the earlier 90's.

They say that the new Max is an 1800cc V-4. Was pushing 260hp but has been de-tuned to 205hp. Sounds like a new quarter mile King is on the way. Sure wish Kaw would get building on a new 1400cc Eliminator... "Super Power Cruiser" Drag Bike for sure!!!

Ojref, Clean looking Max. You did good on that deal. I just sold my 2005 Anniversary Edition Vmax a few months ago. Gotta love the V-Boost.

V-boost was cool, but even better when I removed the valves and installed straight pipe in their place...!
Boosted from idle.... was a blast!

Another ICON !
Nice bike!

Uhhhh - I wouldn't count on that new "1/4 mile king" being a new VMax, even if they do produce one --

FBA, If Yamaha builds it with one main goal in mind... to go insanely fast from 0-160mph in a straight line (and virually nothing else) along with the modern updated brakes & suspension which is now a gimme, I think that they'll have a chance. Heck, think about it. If a group of us 14 owners got together and were able to manufacture a Power Cruiser-Naked bike using the big ninja's motor as our platform, we could build a monster 1/4 mile rocket. Produce it as a stock production bike using many of the aftermarket go fast parts and ideas that we all see & use here on this site. Then we get Smokin to pull the pin as we all watch the bike explode off the line and scream down the track becoming the fastest street legal production motorcycle in history... Eliminating "ALL" other competitors! Hence the name "ZL1400 Eliminator". ZX14Mike and I are now accepting large & small donations that will be going toward the new project, so let us know if you're onboard with the idea. lol

Yes, I thought it added a nice touch to the story. And I'm sure we wouldn't have to twist your arm to pilot such a machine... now would we?

I fell in love with the V-Max the first time I saw it in the early 80's. I like the stout look of it. A couple of partners of mines had one. Very powerful bike during that time in comparison to the other bikes. Kaw had the Ninja 900 out at that time, Honda had the Hurrican, Yamaha had the FJ1200 and Suzuki had the 1150. Those were some fun times back then.

No, not that Vmax. The new, yet to be released prototype that Yamaha has been working on. Do a search on the New Vmax and you'll find it... Super Power Cruiser for sure. Something to kick sand in the face of Suzuki's new B-King with.

The max is a great back-up ride. I have a 99 I bought with 4000 miles on it..now its got 19,000...runs great, no wobbles. I was going to sell it a couple of years ago...decided to keep it. It sounds great with a pipe...my boost is on all the time too, 25mpg but fun as fuck.

Yes, put some drag bars on it... you'll love the feel of them. Much more control when the VBoost kicks in too. Also, contact Jon Cornell at UFO Performance in Ohio to get the front portion of the seat re-done & lowered. These two things by far are the first two mods you'll be glad you made. The stock seat is like riding on a telephone pole. The UFO seat is more like sitting down on the bike in a saddle rather than riding on top of the bike.

OJ, If you like the look of the stock exhaust, I have a great mod that I came up with for the stock cans. It increases sound and performance & it cost less than my Qwick Pipes. Must have been a first, cause none of the Vmax owners that I met at last years bike rally in Johnston, PA have tried it yet. We had 95 of us in the Saturday morning parade... it was awesome hearing all those V-4's rumbling down main street.

A lot of the aftermarket pipes floats between sport bike exhaust which looks all wrong, and the gay ass Cobra pipes for the wanna-be Hardley crowd for -10RWHP. I think the Holeshots are the best bet IMO.

What's your exhaust mod? Is it the new end caps or drilling out the baffles?
