08 busa sounds like its raised the bar
This is my first post fellows, i'm getting ready to purchase a zx14 but i'm having second thoughts after reading about the new busa. 177.5hp and105ft lbs man is that thing going to cook. Actually both bikes are silly fast, but I want the fastest one and easiest one to work on and mod. I know the old busa was much easier to work on than the 14, comming from lee sheirts and terry kiser{mr. turbo}. But I also know the 14 is smoother ,bettor brakes, and I have always been a KAWI fan. The busa has one hell of a rep. and if everything is improved well ..... you see my delima. What do you fellows think {please be unbiased}

at least wait for the '08 14 results and then make a decision. I'm a Kaw man regardless of the results.

what you mean easier to work on....like oil changes or motor building .... if you like spending 1 hr ( to 2hr for some ) changing oil on a busa then all means get a busa ...

If you want to see who will be tops, wait until we see how the busa performs with the basic mods. Even if it doesn't trump the busa in stock form, I'm betting the 0814 will still have the edge with pipe/pc/simple mods.

Thats a good idea i'll wait on the info and numbers on the 08 zx14. Either way both bikes are awsome machines.

Not to start another war between bikes but one of those cycle mags got 175hp and 105lb/ft out of the 06 14 when it came out. So all dyno's are different is all I am trying to point out. And when your talking about damn near 200hp at the crank 2hp doesn't mean anything at all.

My buddy had a few busas, bought the '07 14 and said he loves it and is so much more refined with an awesome clutch than the Busa...He is sticking with the 14 even if the new Busa is faster!!!

I would push a rolling Kawasaki chassis rather than ride a running Suzuki out of Death Valley. I don't care if Suzuki makes a product with tits and ass that rivals Jessica Biel, I won't be riding it!

the 14 is the easiest bike to work on u ever had, oh yea its the fastest smoothest one too. did i mention topend charge second to none? brock it and rock it!

The dyno numbers were in STD.
SAE numbers will be roughly 173/103.
Most 14s I've seen are around 170 and 102.
Not as big a gap as has been stated. The 7 extra horses the 14 is supposed to get will mean there will be f'all in it.

Thats because the Busa is a major competitor to our bike. Really its the only one. You will find the same on any other message board you go to.
Busa boards have a lot of 14 info
3 series BMW boards have a infiniti and info
Ford boards have a lot of chevy info
Blackberry forums have a lot of windows mobile info
It goes on and on and on. Every major message board no matter what its for, automotive, motorcycle, technology, etc. will all have competing information on them. If not than how will anyone know what they are up against and what to compare their product too?

I just can't seem to get over the looks of the new busa i use to like the old one alot just wanted the damn bike update. The design seemed alot cleaner than this one. Things bulge out from everywhere on this new busa.. The turn signals, the hump seems even bigger. Makes the 14 look much prettier and it ain't no beauty queen! Sticking with 14 unless the make a green 08 14.

No matter how badass the new Busa is, NO MATTER WHAT, the '08 14 (and the older 14's with mild or NO mods) is still gonna be near or above it in performance. So stop the 'lets see what Kawi does next year' shi'ite. You have Kawi's answer in your garage. After Suzi beats the Kaw (either in 08 or 09 or 0-friggin-10, most of you will still have the 14. And along with it, you have Kawasaki's top of the line image and reputation maker in your hands to modify, show, and race in order for YOU BASTARDS to make THEM a success. And you can kiss my ass if you trade it in because the new Busa has 3-5 more horses stock. As if its SOMEHOW CHEAPER to lose $5-10 grand on the trade-in for a new Busa in order to get the 3-5 hp. Give me a break you posers!!! Own it, modify it, race it, and most of all PROVE YOUR CHOICE!! If you guys, men who have the money and will power to make this bike into a legend, give it a chance, stand behind your choice as if, when you bought it, you actually were looking ahead and making a sound choice for the next few years. Bail on it if you have too, if your fake ass chrome-it-and-slam-it peers decide that its not the 'cool' bike this year.
And the pisser is: you bastards seem WAY TO WILLING to consign the 14 to the scrap heap of one-hit-wonders, not willing to accept that with the proper effort and mods it'll hang with or beat a damn Busa, mod for mod. Or that its styling is atypical of its category, neither uglier or better looking overall than a Busa. Own your damn bikes fellas!! Kawi is not some 675 Triumph that leaves its owners scared it cant repeat the feat. You KNOW Kawi is in it for the long haul, a slightly different brand that demands its respect thru sheer engineering prowess.
The absolute kicker of this is I'M NOT A KAWASAKI FAN!! I prefer Suzuki, always have since I worked at a Kawi dealer and started racing. But, damn you guys, I respected, even feared depending on the model year, Kawasaki bikes and there hardcore hard riding dedicated fan base. ALWAYS. So step it up fellas, join the fight and prove your bikes capabilites. I'm friggin tired of hearing "I'll upgrade if Kawi adds another 7 hp or blah blah blah". Save your new bike dough and make your bike (cheaply I might add) into the power beast you want. Then go whoop on a '08 stock Busa or 14 with your basic brocks package.
Hell, the only guys I'll respect in this thread that trade theirs in is the ones that just cant stand the 14 looks. EVERYTHNG ELSE can be easily modified or fixed to beat anything stock ever made. Grow a set fellas. You all are acting a bit like, well, teenage blonde cheerleaders discussing the "new chick" and her "looks". What guy friggin cares???? she has a big chest and nice ass> and she puts out at the slightest twist of the wrist. You can 'fix' the rest later!! Man up fellas!! -------or is it ladies?
