Latest and Greatest Mods ???

After reviewing thousands of comments on how to unleash the low-end powerband of this bike and delimit the top-end I was not able to clearly put together the best possible set-up. Without retarding the idle or causing other unwanted decreased performance, what is the best set-up as well as where I can pick-up the necessary parts? Please feel free to direct me to a prior comment as well if it is all encompassing. Thanks.

LOL!! You're gonna get 100 people posting 'buy Brocks only'!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's what I have..works good. 171 rwhp SAE
Hindle Ti Slipons
NO FLIES
TRE006a
PCIII - Muzzy slipon/no flies map
speedohealer set to read 3% low.

I have since been adding tons of fuel to the top end, as all the dyno maps strangely take away tons of fuel up top...have they never heard of ram air?

So you see, you gotta do what you think looks and sounds best!

In the thread about 'stock zx14 hp', no one is yet to really answer me as to why they are all leaned out.

Sorry to hijack this thread...I hope we haven't done so!

First have to get some beer out of the fridge....lol. beertime.
that happens a lot with my threads also...

If you make the top end richer, you will spread the hp over a bigger rpm range, but not gain HP in my opinion. but the bike feels stronger... and is, because you can use the hp longer.

The only way to sheck out your top rpm fuell air mixture is to go flat out, and kill your engine and take out and "read" the sparkplugs. (thats to much work for me so I don't lol...

Don't mind my writing, but i know my englisch is a lot better than a lot of guys there dutch LOL...

Thanks NOS - it seems like there is much debate over the TRE. If I just took out flies (I am assuming both top and bottom) in the interim prior to purchasing the PCIII and Muzzy, would I still expect to gain some low-end power without sacrificing anything else (idle retardation, loss of top-end power, flat spots elsewhere, etc...)? I am not looking for miracles, but rather a sensible improvement in low-end power.

I would leave the flies in until you get the PCIII. I ran for 2 days with no flies and NO PCIII. The bike will need fuel for sure. You may think it feels better with just no flies....but wait until you add the fuel!!

It will run perfect with no flies and a PC. Without the PC it is lean at 3500 rpm and down. Makes cruising a pain in the ass.

Once I had the PC, no flies, and slipons on and a map in, I added the TRE006a, and it really helped smooth up the revs down low!!

That is something I noticed too about the maps....seems like they actually run leaner than stock in a lot of areas. I figured if anything they would be adding fuel. What is the worst that could happen if you richen up the mixture too much....foul the plugs or fuel deposits?

That was on the first run of Brocks pipes .. The later ones have a ton of room between the filter and pipe ....Brocks said if you have a problem with the old one just call him like Steve did... Problem fixed ... And i like my bike looking like the other fast zx14s out there ...lol..

it should also be mentioned that brock doesnt even make his own pipes - hindle makes em. brock was the first to offer several power commander maps for the 14 for different configurations. the only reason why he has sold so many exhausts is because of that, and i guess because some people dont want to pay for custom tuning by a local dyno operator and would rather use a "canned" map on their brand new $13000 bike.
when i decide to modify my 14, ill be going with a tiforce/orient express. aside from tiforce, the only other systems id reccomend are arata and akrapovic. i doubt you will see superbikes running brock systems anytime soon.

Thanks NOS - I will wait. Any advice about removing the four top flies - such as how to avoid stripping?? Any solvents out there to dissolve loctite-like material before attempting removal??

A '#2' phillips screwdriver is all you need. Perhaps some needle nose pliers. Don't touch the throttle grip once you have started, other than to turn the grip back as it opens a little when you push with the screwdriver sometimes.

I did mine with a hot motor...that may help loosen the loctite. Do one at a time. Mine were easy. I let the screws fall and picked them up with a magnet. Ok to let them fall as long as you are sure the main flies are closed!!

dude seriously, read the brock diaries. you can find them here or at brocks website or dragbike.com. everything you need to know to make your 14 the best it can be. even if you don't get his stuff it is quite informative.
countersteer get off your ass and put a pipe on that thing, just don't try to make it look like mine....
