That's excellent Bangma, the motor just takes off at 7000 rpm, 200mph is within reach.

We took GT Motorcycles ZX-12R to Bruntingthorpe airfield last month for 2 Wheels Only magazine. They were doing a feature on reaching 200mph and they needed to borrow a bike. (This particular machine has done 216mph and been over 200 many times).

They were using a Racelogic Driftbox to log the speeds. It uses Sat Nav and is accurate to 0.1km/h, cost is around £300. A nice piece of equipment and all the proof you need.

I had a tailwind last year when my bike went 205, so I went back earlier this year and did 203, the critics have all gone quiet now

The bike had in stock trim with the zero map 174.8 hp. they build out the engine, and machined the head: decking, porting, polished the innerside valves, This job was good for 10 HP. Then they made the headers, from stock 38mm to 43 mm measured outside pipe.
What really is important here is the length of the 4 into 1 collector. then they had to go to both sides again for the acrapovic muflers. they won 8 hp with that header work. the last 10 hp was really dyno tuning.

Bike spec. are : head job, header job, akrapovic sp titanium slip ons, bna air filter, pc3 usb, gipro speedohealer, ( 21 dyno runs)
