10" fan installed
As previously mentioned, I noted where another 14 rider from AZ had put a Hayden 3670 10" fan on the ZX14. The original poster used "a fan from a Checker" (cab). Although he did have the correct box... you'll understand why this is important later.
My bike's fairing was off from a tank slapper induced low side in March. While apart I figured why not.
The Hayden 3670 comes with instructions that indicate it is set up as a "pusher" fan and that to change config to a puller, reverse the fan and wiring. I did. The install was a bit of a challenge BECAUSE I did not drop the rdiator. In fact, DON'T do this. It is a major league PITA w/o dropping the radiator. I would suggest doing this at the same time you change anti-freeze. I positioned the fan assembly in a position such that the top mounts were only 2 rows of fins from the top and about 1/4" of the shroud overlaps the radiator. It could be positioned a little higher and this may be worth it for you. Once positioned, check for clearance from the pipes. As the original poster indicated, it's tight. I had to space the radiator rear mount about .6 inches to clear the header, and minimally at that.
Upon reassembly I started the bike and let it idle until the fan kicked on. It's not overly loud w/ M4 pipes, but it does produce a noticeable 'hum' of a vibe throughout the bike.
The temp stayed the same on the "so called gauge". When I put my hand in back of the fan all I felt was a slight draft. If you guessed the fan was blowing out the front, you're correct.
Fortunately, a few connectors and 20 minutes later I was retesting with the wiring hooked black to black, blue to blue. Now when the fan turned on it was like a mini-hurricane blowing out the left side fairing, over the GF grill.
No ride report yet though. FWIW, I had to source one bolt for the lower rad mount, I belive it was m8x1.25 x 30mm... but don't quote me on the length. Also, the fan draw is ~5.3 amps, the fan circuit is a 15 amp.

Nope... I was too busy cursing the Kawasaki engineers. If I get motivated in the next couple weeks I'll try to snap some relevant shots.

10 inch fan results
A while back I installed the 10 inch fan in replacement of the Kawasaki part in an effort to prevent cooling issues. Now that Mid-Atlantic ambient air temps have crossed into the mid - high 90's a few times I have some saddle time to report results.
First, all of this is totally subjective and based on my commuttng experience with the 14. I can only use the 14 'bar meter' as a reference. As everyone here knows, when the ambient air temperature is over 90, you will frequently see 1 bar below the top of the gauge. In the mid 90's, I would typically see the gauge maxed out, but no flashing warning. I have never seen an overheat warning, even with a couple 100 + commutes in bumper to bumper or slow moving traffic.
Stuck in traffic with the 10" fan, I will still see 1 bar below max, however I have yet to see a maxed out gauge, even sitting at idle in my driveway for 20 minutes in 90 degree heat. I've been stuck for about 30+ minutes in high 90's heat bumper to bumper traffic a few times now and the behavior is consistent and repeatable. I think this is merely confirmation of the obvious; a bigger fan, turning just as fast - or rather moving approximately twice as much air, over a greater surface area of the radiator is cooling more of the anti-freeze/water. This results in a slower temperature climb under extreme heat conditions. Will it stop you from overheating? No, of course not. If you're doing low speed drills for example where a lot of throttle & clutch is used, you're going to max out the gauge. Will that cause it to overheat? Probably not. Will that cause it to overheat in 100+ degrees? Maybe. So my observation is that the Hayden 10" fan does indeed keep the bike running cooler under hot conditions. It may be even better if you wire in a fan switch, I didn't.
There are 2 side effects. 1: There is a very, very minor harmonic vibration produced by the fan, and you can feel it in the bars. It's not enough to bug me.
2: I get a lot of hot air blasted out the left side of the fairing. Oh well. Better there than having it stay in the engine... It's not roasting, but it's noticeable.
Hope this helps.
BTW,
For grins, I was checking out my ZX11 yesterday and noticed that the fan on that bike is pretty tiny as well. I never had any overheat issues with the 11, even at over 1200 cc's.

Exactly , if there is any way to remove the engine heat more efficiently, it likely is not going to make the rider more comfortable.... that heat has to be moved somewhere, and the rider likely will be effected....
an inevitable fact.

mine is still staying cool with almost 8500 miles, running engine ice but it seems no different from the stock antifreeze. got stuck in some heavy ironman event traffic last weekend unexpectedly for an hour and it got to one bar from the top. all this in sunny fla.

Hey shiphteey... I believe someone a while back was wanting to know what kind of camera and mount you use on your videos on youtube. Can you start a thread talking about your setup?
