Try it out! I hear it corners better than a 12r. I will take mine up to mid-ohio when the time comes.

The ZX 14 will kick ass on the big tracks great for high speed apex sweeps Intimida2or will eat up the small bikes at Big Willow . I would pass on the small tight tracks with the 14.

I can get my 600RR around fast tracks such as homestead with quicker lap times than my 14 any day.
I was debating running the 14 around Daytona for the October CCS races instead of the 600RR, but even considering the Daytona straights I still think the 600 with a sprocket change will be to my advantage. I don't want to tape off and safety wire the 14 for nothing.
Although what all you are typing about the 14 is tempting me....

the 1000's will be right in front of you on the straights, because they will keep passing you in the corners....
Good luck!
I love my 14, and will defend it any day. I have made many people eat crow, in fact all who dare!
However, there were no corners involved.
It will never touch a literbike in the corners, but hey have fun!
The literbikes can carry so much more corner speed, you'll never catch them on the straights.

Go out and have fun!!
You might be suprised by the 1k's at willow since you will not be able to exit 9 (all the turns really) anywhere near as fast - you will also find it hard to turn into 8 since you will be still accelerating hard and have to chop the throttle to turn - this is where the 600's can fly by.
Nuff said - go have fun, keep the dark side down and be careful trying to hang with anyone on a 600 or 1K that knows how to go round the "big" track.

Thanks for the tips !
I'll be in the novice group so i am purely going for fun and plenty of legal speeding .
Basically since it's my 1st track day i'm gonna pick someone that has great lines and a speed i'm comfortable with and follow.
If he's/she's on a ninja 250 then so be it lol ;D
Or i'll let them all by and play in the large gaps by myself.
One way or the other it's gonna be fun, fun, fun and fun!

the fastest lines around the track will be quite different on the 14 , than on the 600/1000.
Its girth, lack of cornering clearance, and power advantage will require different lines than a pure sport.
You'll find yourself squaring corners more, on the gas harder, and on the brakes harder to make up for lack of corner speeds.
Just thought I'd mention it cause if you hop out on the track and try to follow the lines of one of the literbikes, you may find yourself on the ground. That would suck.
Seeing pics of a brnd new wrecked 2007 zx14 on the othersite, from a novice on track day made my stomach turn...
It will be an enjoyable experience as long as you concentrate on your abilities, bike, lines and the connection you develop with your machine!
Again, baby steps, and most of all walk awy from the day with a grin and more skils, not sorrow and a wrecked bike.

Totally awesome is an understatement of how my 1st track day was!
So me riding my ZX 14 and my buddy robert driving his car rolled out of OC at 4:30am monday morning and got to Rosamond at about 6am and had breakfast. About 110 miles to the track from my house.
Then we hit track as they were opening and grabbed a garage!
Early bird does get the worm lol!
We had a fridge w/a freezer ,microwave, coffee maker, compreesed air, and a work bench, already in the garage!

On the track i ran in the novice group , but the novice group at Big willow were almost as fast as the advanced group , they just weren't able to maintain a race pace is all.
I had so much fun that my bike's lower fairings got hurt as well as my kickstand touched down going too low in the turns but it felt great going that low at those insane speeds lol !

All in all i had an unbelievable time and did 4 20 minute sessions which was about 100 miles of track time.

Surprised the instructers when i passed them in turns and rocketed by them on the straights.
They wanted me to go to a faster group cause i was starting to lap the novices , but i said i would do it next time.
I will be doing more track days for sure at big willow!
On the way back i took The back side of angeles crest highway , all in all it was a 330 mile day for me .
The tires i chose for this day were Pirelli Supercorsas 120 front 180 rear .
They more than did the job!

155/160 MPH was the fastest i had been at the track so far according to my speedo and the fastest in a turn was turn 8 at 140.
No video's cause my camera kept shutting off at high speeds...
What a fun track!
