Rickey Gadson ZX-14 test video's on Brock's site
Guys,
We had some link problems last time, but I believe they are corrected now.
My personal best 9.20 video from Valdosta is here in addition to a couple of others you might want to see:
2007 Brock's Performance ZX-14 Video's
I get asked all the time about our "track" maps and if they really make a difference the average guy will notice. I decided to let Rickey Gadson do some testing for me at Atlanta to find out. Mr. Gadson is FAR from average, but he is one of the most consistent riders I have ever worked with. He is definitely NOT the smallest and I know he gives up around 20 lbs (or more) to any of the other "fly weight" jockeys who have thrown a leg over my 14.
The conditions at Atlanta were the worst so far in 2007 at an AMA/Prostar race and the times showed it in all normally aspirated classes. Rickey made two passes at a corrected A/D of over 2200 ft in very low barometric pressure.
The first pass was with a readily available map from the internet. This map was created in the heat of the desert at an actual attitude of around 2500 ft. It's for use with a TRE and we ran it without flies, but all of the rest is done correctly for the drag strip: MR9, air cleaner removed etc.
The second pass was our Maxton map that I send to our customers - - no other changes.
**PLEASE NOTE**
1. We tested in street ET, so IGNORE the announcer. He had no idea Rickey was riding my bike.
2.Rickey had no idea what I was doing! He was just riding the bike.
The first pass was actually a bit better than the second on the front 1/2 as RG had to fight a wheelie more on the second. All Rickey said after the first pass was, "Where's the MPH? The rest of the ticket looks pretty good, but it looks like it's down on power?"
Good Luck and GO FAST!

So Brock, the "track map" is the one that went 154 MPH versus the "maxton map" that went 149 MPH? I asked since you said the first pass was the track map and the second was the maxton but the vids aren't labeled such as.

Brent the way I take it is the 149 mph pass was with a map from dyno jets map data base and the 154 was with the maxton map. I could be wrong but thats what I understood.

When Rickey crashed my brand new 2005 GSX-R1000, it really sucked. I was glad he could take a shot like that and stand up instantly and prove he was mentally and physically OK by delivering during eliminations. He is a true pro.
The story goes like this:
Rickey was without a ride in 2005 and had won the first SuperSport race of the season on his personal ZX-10.
And of course, being the BIG STAR that he is, Orange County Choppers asked him to ride the OCC NAPA dragbike shortly afterwards. During filming at Englishtown, Rick gave up his ZX-10 so that Paulie and some of the other OCC guys could make some laps during the day to have fun and enjoy our motorsport. Long story short...Rick's bike slowed down a bit after a full day of TORTURE by novice drag racers.
I had just received my '05 GSX-R1000 from American Suzuki (still in the crate) when Rick asked me if I had a bike he could borrow. I told him that he would have to show up with a complete stocker with my bolt-on parts and tune up. He said no problem, and I assembled and tuned the bike in 3 DAYS.
I spent a full day on the dyno with the bike, but it had literally not been around the block when the Woska's (my '05 race team) loaded the bike for Rickey into their trailer to deliver it to RG at the Richmond, VA race.
Gadson entered 3 classes at the event to get as much practice as possible...it had been a while since he had ridden a Suzuki Supersport bike in competition (Never!). Dave "O" Owen and the Woska's did all they could to help get the bike race ready. (FYI: I was out of town on business.) Rickey managed to qualify #2 with a 9.28 @ 154 MPH. Pretty nice. Dave O said he was on a teen pass in the crash video with a 4.02 330ft as he broke the news to me that that RG had just "fell off".....
The crash was caused because the bike was so new that the front wheel didn't spin correctly. The brakes on modern bikes are designed to intentionally drag to keep water off of the rotors in the rain. If you carefully watch the video, he carried the wheel for the first 300-400ft. Once it landed from a dead stop to 120+MPH in an instant, it washed out. The brakes were simply dragging so much from lack of use/break-in, that it was like he locked up the front brake when it landed.
Unbelievably, after the crash the team was able to repair the bike with borrowed parts, and RG finished runner-up at the event. After I corrected the brake problem and crash damage, Rickey did not loose a single round of 1000 SS competition for the rest of the entire season. He finished the 2005 race season with his 8th AMA/Prostar National Championship and teammate, Vince Woska, finished second. FYI: Vince went on to win the 2006 Championship with the knowledge that the team gained in 2005 while working with RG.

The faster is the Maxton Map, the slower is the Map supplied by Dynojet I think they are labeled that way... Nice Videos Brock thanks alot... When are we gonna see what that bike can do with an arm an airshifter and a little spray? I would like to see Rickey or Shine make a pass on it then, or for that matter when you go to Gainesville let Lee "Smokin" Pritchard make a pass on it
