SPEED just approved to pilot a new program: SPEED RECORDS.

THE TEXAS MILE will be the proving grounds.

AT THE TEXAS MILE on MARCH 24-25, 2007, our participants will get a shot to be featured in the pilot show. Kevin Deane, of OakVille Lane Productions out of California will be at this Texas Mile with a preliminary crew to gather video and audio footage. His team will also capture the stories behind the folks who have made the trek to the Texas Mile to set their own personal speed records or to go after top speeds.

YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS TEXAS MILE!

To get your best shot at gaining the attention of OakVille Lane Productions and the possibility of being featured in the pilot, you need to do the following:

1. Make sure you are entered into MARCH 24-25, 2007 TEXAS MILE and sign all required waivers.
We will be sending out confirmations on late Wednesday evening (March 21).

2. Submit a profile on you or team/club: Your general data - name, age, family info, contact information, career, hobbies, where you have traveled from, etc. Your Motorsports background - how the heck you got addicted to this in the first place and "racing resume". Your team/club information if you are part of a team/club. Picture(s)/Video would be great as well of you or team/club. Highlight anything that you feel might be helpful in setting yourself or team/club a part from others and make a good "human interest story".

3. Submit a profile on your car, motorcycle or land speed racing vehicle: Year, Make, Model, Modifications, Fuel/Gas running, etc. Tell us any interesting stories in regards to the build or preparation of your vehicle/motorcycle. Pictures/Video are great as well.

4. Tell us why you think that you or your team/club should be featured or shown in the pilot of SPEED RECORDS. Keep in mind that you do not have to be just going after the top speeds. You could be going after a "personal best" speed record, a classification speed record, a first ever speed record, etc. Be creative when you are writing about this.

Please send all profiles and submission to Public Information Officer: TJ Aulds at info@nasatx.com. For any clarifications, please send an e-mail to that same e-mail or call Shannon Matus at 281-802-9863.

Nope! Going to pick up a cam chain (mine was wasted!) this morning TUES, splitting the cases w/my builder, putting on the lowered forks....some issues w/the spacers so I may roll up w/a stock rear wheel and carbon front.

Valve springs are in, tranny too, haven't even fired it up and run some oil thru it yet....T minus 48 hours!

you know you dont..... have to split the cases if you do not want to..... I took a dremel tool to the guard on the bottom and cleaned it up just enough to get my camchain in without splitting my cases, just an FYI... not sure if anyone else has ever done that...

PHEW....2ND day straight of no sleep, looking to get a much needed 10 hours tonight to catch up!

New cam chain is in, most of the Maxton Mud, Bonneville Salt and gooey residue from tape from EACH LSR event (layer upon layer) has been removed! New sponsor stickers, spacers, ceramic bearings, new chain and carbon fiber wheels looking good and straight. Builder is going to take it for a test drive (he's only been 179 @ Daytona....I told him to really hit it!) and dump out the regular oil after this mini break-in and run the full synth before I leave!

Ram air and front fender seem to clear each other given the 2.5" lowered forks! Forks are not slid thru the triple anymore so its only lowered about 1.5" from before....and with this 120/70 tire up front again....maybe 1" lower up front overall compared to bonneville....which is just about perfect given my tuck pics. I was stable enough out there so this should be just right! I was gonna lower the front more and drop the rear to the lowest hole (now its in the middle) but I remember how bumpy Maxton is and best to not go too low out there!

Bottom line if you make too many changes it can be confusing/dangerous. On the downside one of my 2 small nos bottles has a leaky valve ... lost 2 lbs when they filled it up @ the shop.....means I will have to wait longer between runs to cool the same bottle and warm it back up instead of cycling them out...oh well.....way I see it as soon as it gets calm I'll be ready to spray and smack 200!

Word is the timing lights are a little different than at Maxton....less generous if you will. So if my 202s end up being 200s @ TX....then the headwind.....hopefully the lowering, ceramic bearings, carbon wheels and correctly mounted muzzy canister will free up some mph to compensate for that.

I hate head/cross winds! @ Bonneville I ran 30 seconds on nos in 6th gear (18/44, not 45 but still....) and only ran 199 GPS into a 10 mph headwind! 10 is excessive but yo usee the point! Its weird....sometimes I think I have it in the bag and sometimes I'm like "what if all the variables stack up against me and I leave with a 199 run at best....what method of suicide should I employ?

I'm glad to see some high-speed stuff getting coverage on Speed... let's just hope that they don't CHEESE it up with a bunch of host-bullshit like Superbikes or Epic Ride!!

I'd love to head down south this weekend to watch the fun (and maybe give it a try), but I've got other commitments. You guys have fun and be safe.

My builder calls me 8:30pm...bad news....sprocket/spacer/bearings/wheel just not freakin lining up good like the stockers. Stockers were somehow not working out right! We're thinking the swingarm actually may be tweaked. Ironically the guy who I recently sold the dymag wheels to happened to say he still has his stock swingarm sitting in the garage. He is 2.25 hours away according to Mapquest! I am contemplating making the banzai run to get it tonight!...anyways I rush over with my stock rear, we swap back and forth at least 5 times making minor adjustments. Turns out neither the spacers that came with the BSTs work perfectly, nor do the ones I bought for them the other week :x We had to trial and error mix and match the set till it fit just right. Now it looks 98-99% to stock 8) And considering how off they were before and were stable to 180 or so I should be fine now, he'll take a test ride before I leave but only to 120ish :?

Got all the plastics clean, there is about 1" gap now between ram air and front fender from the forks lowered....that is with the forks NOT pushed thru the ram air at all  leaves just enough space for braking @ 200

1 of the 2 small nos bottles is leaking from the valve, local nos shop couldn't fix it so I'll have 4 good shots and one so-so shots at 200+ mph unless I get more nos out there  The rest will be n/a runs and hopping on whoever's bike can go over 200 if need be 8)

Bike actually looks pretty decent....epoxyed some of the cracked plastics....

Tiger racing chain guard has 2 out of 3 mounting holes that fit perfectly, middle one isn't even close  but we put locktite on the other 2.

Supercorsa in the rear has fresh rubber, 205 mph gearing on the limiter!

Removed the 2 horn for weight reduction  then we noticed while testing nos solenoid SOMETHING made it not work. Turns out wiring was near the header, melted something :? , fixed that, now nos solenoid works fine (horn fuse was blown, probably due to heat on wires from the header?)

Fresh stickers 8) , need to remember to pump up the tires to about 2x the recommended street psi  before my runs.

Taped up the front farings to the center "V" piece because I have done runs over 200, come back and you can see it kinda popped outta place :? due to the wind....at least the tape is red, almost matches the fairings! More aerodynamic than popped out plastics.

Played with my tuck while on the bike.....scooting forward gets my head out of the wind more (Tank slopes forward more) but my wake is horrible AND my legs protrude outward more (tank obviously gets wider). Scooting back has my skinny legs within the width of the farings and cleaner wake....oh well....lesser of 2 evils unless I run w/out the tank cover....hmmm.....

Its 5am and just got home from epoxying, wheel/chain alignment stuff, spacer swapping, gas tank back on, yada yada....gotta get up in 4 hours.... :?

190...crazy headwinds....talked to the Speed guy there.....told him I was kinda bummed about the speed...he said don't matter, he still wantst to talk to me tomorrow morning even if I don't hit 200 (about my 200 mph runs around the country, etc). It would be SOOOO sweet if I squeak a 200+.....no winds and I think I can honestly do it....but its going to be skin of my teeth, no mistakes, perfect nos, no winds, etc.
