Raced a compareable '04 Busa yesterday

My friend's dad has a Busa with virtually the same bolt on mods as ole reliable does and we ran 4 times with the 14 pulling a freight train on the Busa. He did spin a few times but with the way my bike pulled on the top side, it wouldn't have mattered if it did hook. I never even got outta 4th gear either. Oh well, we wanted to see what was the deal with bolt ons for bolt ons and found out.

I coulda told you what was gonna happen... I weigh 300 pounds and 200 pound riders on compareable busas cant keep up... I think people are just now startin to see what the 14 can do so many people had there onloy experience with the 14 before everyone knew to take the secondaries out...

man stories like this kill me. I'm still wrestling with piping and mapping my stock busa or selling it for zx-14 money. Bus has been a great bike to me but i love what the 14 does. Amazing performance aside, One thing that's leaning me towards the 14 is my bus is a 2000 and if it got totaled or stolen, i'd be lucky to get $5000 for it since insurance goes by blue book. State farms said they'll "take into consideration" how upkept the bike was. Any mods i do to it i would have to have photo's and receipts for but i'm betting it would still be a fight to get them to pay for that too. With the 14 i'd be better compensated to pay off the load if something unfortunate ever happened.

However what leans me to modding the busa is..hey..it's payed for. Big incentive to me right there.

I'm not worried much if a new bus or 14 comes out in 08. Not too big on going with first year design until thier proven.

Hopefully i'll figure it out by spring.

Like you said the Busa is a great bike and if you mod it you better hold on because it will be fast !!! You can see in my sig how fast my zx14 is ...If your like me you visit the Busa sites and know that it takes a 1397 kit or a BIG shot of N20 in a busa to do what a zx14 does with just a pipe and p/c...But hey your Busa is paid for so thats an ace in the hole.....

What you said is all true man. I still recall that one Jon von video of his piped/mapped busa with spray against a 14 with just a muzzy pipe (no mapping i guess). Only time he was side by side or beat the big ninja was when he got on his spray.

Bus is paid for but, even though it's old it is mint and has all the stock parts on it (stock pipes even...if your gonna speed it's good to do it quietly as possible ). Has a lil under 22,000 on the clock. Not sure exactly what i could get out of it but it would be a good payment to the 14. My old CBR XX was only 3 years old but had over 46,000 on the clock and a two bro's 4 into 1 exhaust. Sold it at the honda dealership i worked at at the time. It was a hard sell but someone bought it for $6500.

Smokin i was wondering what u think a busa would run set up exactly the same as your 14? With you riding both bikes also.

I'm amazed at how the new gixxer 1000's are doing against the 'busa, but Suzuki won't sit too long on their old design they'll have us all trading for their upcoming open class bike soon enough

Rick i think i could run some 9.30s 9.40s on a busa set up like my zx14. It would also need Brocks clutch mod and a gear.. Having had two busas they never did the MPH that the zx14 does.. Busa modded like my zx14 would make around 164 to 168 HP... We are seeing zx14s with pipes and P/C with good maps making mid to high 180s. Torq on the busa is high 90s with good tuning .. while the zx14 is seeing 114 TQ ...If you look at the dyno charts between the two bike the zx14 is making peak TQ at a lower RPMs than the Busa .. As you know that helps a lot in drag racing...Smokin....

Here's my old 'Busa and my 14.
If the Kawasaki had just had the low-down grunt of the Suzuki without "flies out + PC" ??

Engine builder and tunner... So going to the track is work ...You can't sell race motors if you can't go to the track and prove them to work.. Smokin...

First would be head work and a good valve job .... Second would be a set of drop in H/C pistons..Third would be a set of cams..
