Had a bad day. Mickey Thompson rear, new clutches and a busted oil pan

Went and replaced my clutches. Two of the middle clutch were in very bad shape. Down to the metal on the friction plates. Well replaced those and then went and got the mickey thompson bc1 tire for the rear. New filter and oil. Was going to race a guy on his busa. So me and a friend took a ride. The clutches worked well. I went to my practice launch area. I smoked the tire. Went to take off and the tire spun worse than any tire i have ever used. The tire only grab once out of three times. I left half the tire on the ground. Mt says spin alittle to no spin for the tire. BS. The tire spun almost all the way through first gear. Went to another area to try the tire again. Same thing happen. This time on concrete. So as i was rolling i told myself " ill spin the tire to get it hot." This time i guess it was hot and the bike raised unexpectedly. Slam!!! I went a block feeling my tire spin more than before. Turned around and say a oil slick. Pan has hole where the triangle piece sticks out. That piece is what hit. It took the oil plug with it also. To things i learned. Cant ride on the street with bike 3in down in the bike with the front 1.5 and pulled down. Not enough suspension in the front with it pulled down. Another thing is im going to see about getting the the hole welded shut. I still have the broken piece still attached. Im going to try and tap it from the side. After all if it doesnt work i still have to buy a new pan. I'll post pics if it works out. I also had my suspension stiff if anyone ask. I hope it works because the pan is low. That is the triangle piece in front of the plug. Im going to bounce back quick. I dont think i want to race this guy on his busa. Everytime i get ready to race. First the clutch and now the pan. Never had things like this happen. I guess thats just life for you. Live and learn.

I have heard of this happen 2 or 3 times. They were able to weld it and I think one owner put in an allen bolt in the original hole. I think the other put the plug in the side. Sounds like you hit it pretty bad to take out both the triangle and the bolt! Sorry to hear of your problems.

I'm going to have mine cut and the bolt put in the side. I broke that little plug protector off my bike too. Next time put alittle heat in that tire with a small burn out and have about 15 psi in it.

Your testing your launching in the parking lot of a DragStrip or was this for a street race???...You were too aggressive on the launch and you kept getting more aggressive...Relax and take it easy on the new tire!!!

That was an expensive lesson huh!!!...Your lucky it didn't end up worse than just a hole in the pan...

yes on the street. And yes it could've been worse. I had a maxxis supersport tire before this one. The compound was hard. It didnt spin like this one. Even worn out it did. Its a brand ive never used before. So i do need to find its tendencies. Thats what i was trying to do when the pan hit. The compound is the softest ive used. The original battlax was the best so far. Im just getting in this drag racing game. I take every bit of advice. Im leaving at 3500 dragging the clutch. I ride and practice my launch almost everyday. The only thing different is the tire. Time will tell.

I had the same thing happen 2 me. I took the oil pan off, welded a flat square piece of aluminum 2 the bottom. Then i put my drain plug on the side. That tire will hook, i use 1 myself.
