Why do these bikes (just like the Z750/1000) always have these boring shitty colours...?

Saw the Versys in the flesh today, looks okay, like the black one, unfortunately Kawa black is totally crap quality. But the red looks nice too.......hmmm never thought I would say that about the Versys.
And looking at this vid

For basically the same amount of money I think the redesigned 07 Z1000 is a much better buy and looks a lot better too.

wife has the ninja 650r which is pretty much the same bike with slightly different suspension and cosmetics and it is a blast to ride in the twisties. efi is perfect, trans and clutch good too. front brake feels a bit wooden(maybe just spoiled by the 14) but does the job. also has almost no engine vibration at any speed. plus it has comfortable riding position so you can go all day. spent some time on a zzr 600 and the 650r kicks its ass. i know most hard core sport riders who have never riden one won't be impressed but bike really is a whole lot of fun to ride

....I think this: If you like to corner fast in the tight tiwisties but don't know how to corner fast no matter how tight or gentle the tisties are, the ergos of more upright bikes like the Versys, Ulysses, 650 Ninja, KLR650 are more forgiving than the humping a football ergos of a pure sportbike....its no wonder all things being equal that a motard kicks as when the going gets tight and twisty....its crazy but true...and more relaxing to boot! ...hell, I just might have to consider the Versys just to piss people off and leave'em in the dust and even more pissed off that a fat fugly man on a ffat fugly bike smoked them in the twisties

...hmmm...I wonder how hard it'd be to graft the Ninja650's upper and mid front body work onto the Versys?

While at the Mid-Ohio Vintage races a few weeks ago we (Kawasaki demo escorts) got a chance to spend an hour on the track with the Versys, it was a blast!
The bike is rock steady and since the power is not intimidating, you could come out of the corners on the gas early and really cover some ground.
The bike is a perfect fit for me and is comfortable all day long. I'm thinking with a higher front fender and some more aggressive tires it would be a hoot on dirt roads too.
Everyone who rode them on the demo rides gave good reviews.......only time will tell if there's a market here in the states, I think there will be.

...cost vs value vs content vs asthetics vs functionability?....I really like its analog speedo/digital tach layout...good thing one can't see that hideouse looking front end when riding from the seat ....makes that KTM 690SM look alomost sexy ...oldkawboy said it best: "The bike is rock steady and since the power is not intimidating, you could come out of the corners on the gas early and really cover some ground."...I think its a perfect bike (functionally speaking, of course) for mere moto-mortals like me ....you super heroes should stay off this bike...it was probably not designed with you specifically in mind

...when I look at pics of the Versys I see the front side profile style of the old GPz750, the rear side and lower side profile style of the Ulysses, the swingarm and wheels of a ZX600RR, the rear caliper of a KLR650, the instrument cluster of a proper pure sportbike, and the front end fugliness of a French-something....but mechanically I see near-perfecttion in its design purpose...

...I think this bike will sell to the KLR650 demographic who wants an even more road-oriented bike than the new '08 KLR650...they will keep their KLR650 gor the dirt and have a Versys as its stable-mate for more road-trips with the occassional gravel road thrown in the loop...afterall, the pre-'08 KLR650s are not the prettiest bikes around, but it has its fans and I'm one of them...and the Versys is still ugly, but I like its purpose...its starting to grow on me
