Handling

So tell me. Does the 14 handle as well as the 12?
Has anyone done anything to inprove it?

IMO, it handles better, though a softer suspension setup from factory.

The cg is much lower on the 14 than the 12. Hence it turns easier. Better handling? I dunno... I think a properly set up 12 is better through the moderately tight stuff. Every 14 video I've seen and my own personal experience says it likes to push wide out of the corners.

The suspension is very easy to stiffen up and makes the bike a lot more stable in corners. The manual tells yo how to do most of the adjustments. The rear preload is a bit difficult, and not shown in the manual. I was able to turn the two rings on the top of the rear shock with a large screwdriver and a hammer. If I could have taken the weight off of the rear swingarm it would have been much easier.

Once you have 4-5000 miles on it you WILL find the suspension in need of stiffer springs if you weigh any more than 165 lb....
IMO and experience anyway.

Cornering - I don't think it does. The 12 felt more nimble and precise (for such a heavy bike). I did several track days on the 12 and put about 7000 miles on it in the canyons. I like the 14, it's just doesn't work for me canyon carving and I don't think I'd consider doing a track day on it. But that's not really what it was designed for anyway.

Never owned one, but have had about 2K miles seat time over the years...does that count at all?

Well for me it's not always about the twisties , fun via Acceleration has to be a major player for me as well

But there is a metric ton to be had in handling performance with suspension tuning and tires that are pointy in the center and flat on the sides !

Always heard great things about the Zx-12's handling even when compared to the Agile hayabusa. Heard mostly the same about the 14 though some say it's not as sharp and can be pushy on exit. Stiffer suspension should help with that. Few brit mags say it just really needs a stiffer rear shock since the Front legs do well enough.
