Metzeler 210

The Metzeler 210 rear tire that I ordered is in. (Just hope that we can keep this thread out of the Smack House this time). The tire measures 8" wide off the wheel, so it should be a little less than 3/4" wider than the stock one, so it should fit and hopefully it will last a lot longer too. Seems that most of the Busa Boys are running this tire on their bikes. Not the best tire at the track for ET's, so if you're looking for your BEST personal times I wouldn't recommend it, nor would I recommend it if you're a huge fan of dragging your plastic on the ground in the curves. But if you are looking for a long lasting, good riding tire that looks great on your 14 then this might be a tire for you too. Positive inputs and questions... PLEASE. I should have it mounted and put on my bike soon.

How will the tire last longer when it has to wrap the sides around farther to fit the rim?

Doesn't have to do that. Recommended rim sizes are from 6.00" to 7.00". Which fall within the proper specs. Thanks

best thing would be when done, post a picture from back of the bike and side. i like to see how much the profile will increase since this is still size 50 on profile.

My husband is doing mod's to the swing arm on his Vmax so that he will be able to run the 210 tire also. He is using it now to get the proper fit on his bike. So, as soon as he's done with it I'll be mounting it up.

What model tire is this? The only Metzler I see in a size 210 is the Marathon. I don't think I want a purely high mileage tire. I'd rather go with a Pirelli Diablo Strada and keep most of my traction.

Its not the tire size that makes it last longer its the differnt compounds they use in them. Touring bike tires have hard to last longer sport tires are soft to stick better but dont last as long.

I remember going to a "longer wearing" tire compound on my V-Max and it lasted less than half of the mileage of the stock tire . . .

I hope it's not a Marathon; that's strictly a high load touring/custom tire. With that profile, the bike will sit about 3/16 - 1/2' higher. BTW, a 210 Marathon would only be about 10mm wider than the BT014, because the SS tires are always wider at the same numbers when compared to an ST or a touring tire. If it's a touring tire, you're in for a big problem regarding handling and especially wet. May look great, but very dangerous when pushed, even slightly. A 200 Super Sport tire will be wider and will handle...something like a Michelin Pilot Sport...

stevewfl...you're right.

Bentley...the Marathon will last 2-3 times longer...it's rock hard rubber, have 'em on my Hawg Marathon 880.

To recap... this tire will not be suitable for drag racing or going around turns. "Long lasting" is a product of compound, not size. Is anything gained by using this tire? (it really seems lose/lose)

Clearly QWICKR is a troll. Opinions were clearly voiced in the first thread about fitting a tire that makes your bike handle worse. The only reason to create a second thread would be for fishing puposes.

I remember back in the day when I wrapped a 150/suthin-18 on the 3.5" rear wheel of my GPZ.

Wonder if we could complete the look and shove a one-fiddy on the front of a 14 too?

another example of someone buying a zx-14 for status. the addition of a chopper tire to completely ruin handling characteristics further solidifies my theory. however, from what ive read, you seem to be an expert on tires. if the "busa boys" are running 210s, then i want to run 220s!

If i was the type that wants looks from a Fat tire on a 14 , i would not be satisfied untill i had a wider set up than even this one

Fornunately i'm all about function over form so i'll never have this problem
