My new top case mount

After five months of waiting, finally I got my new Alu Rack.
This mount is made by Motech and it's already available in official dealers as a Kawasaki Genuine Accesory for the 14.

I wanted a nice and clean mount for my Givi V46 top case and I'm really happy with the result.
The quality construction is very good, it fits perfectly and looks like a stock part.

without bags,it looks like a bloated tick on there! It may be well designed, but IMO just doesn't look right.

Looking at that bag/mount...I had an FJR with a top bag like that and the fuckin' bike would be in the air half the time because of 15-20 LBS placed far up and after the back wheel, just like this one. I can only imagine what this one is like when you fill it up, front wont stay down...and you don't even have to go with 16/43's... :P

On a good note though, think of how much tire wear you'll save on that puppy.

Personally, I'd have bought an FJ, an ST, or something more suited to that type of riding with a bag like that on it...

Well, I didn't buy the top case because it looks nice but just to carry the luggage when travelling.
From time to time I make long trips with my wife and we have to carry the things somewhere, so this is the best solution for me because with side bags the bike is less stable at high speeds and you cannot drive between the cars as easily.

Of course if I wanted to buy an FJ or similar I would have done it, but I wanted the fastest bike on earth for any type of ride.

Let's see now....fastest bike in the world, high speeds with your wife on the back, driving between the cars...you have good life insurance on her? :P

Well looks way to far back. I think they should make a bracket that you could reverse so as to hang over the passenger seat when your riding solo and change it when your two up. I think that would make alot more sense, the bracket would be a bit bigger but who's gonna see it underneath the trunk?

A lot of the newer peeps here are just like fucking harley riders. Rugged individualists that deride anything that doesn't fit their idea of what's 'correct'. Just ignore them and go your own way.

Oh but Harley's are almost as fast as luggage equipped sportbikes!

But this Honda rider doesn't appear to appreciate Harley's?

Ditto!
Since these bikes are comfy for the 1000 mile a day runs it's nice to be able to carry the stuff you need securely especially 2 up!

Plus when you are on a trip the bike will appear sleeperish

Nice rack! Haven't said that in reference to a bike in a while. That bag does look goofy hanging out there like that but it's nice to have options. You can't pull the bags off a gold wing and make it run 9's. FJR is a damn nice bike though, almost bought one instead of the 14, but I'm glad I got the 14.

Alvaro,
My side bags have been up to 180 mph with no issues and they fit between cars pretty nicely... at redlights anyway. I don't do lane splitting with moving cars, @#%& that! I got a Joe Rocket Velocity Tank Bag coming too, so I shouldn't need the top case unless the wife comes with me on a long trip, but It's good to know it's there. I believe your case holds a helmet too, that could be useful at times, especially if I'm going to pick up a underage, undersexed, well built passenger.

P.S. I wonder if that thing would work OK with a Corbin seat and BACKREST.

I think it would work okay with the corbin seat, but looks like the backreat would interfer. But GIvI has a back rest pad you can put on that trunk. I had it on my Vstrom.

The weight limit is supposed to be 5 kgs but I don't care because the manufacturers are always too conservative in order to avoid liabilities.
The rack is very solid and it's a Kawasaki genuine accesory, so I'm sure it's designed to support a full top case (around 10 kgs).

BTW, that's a Givi V46 case.

On the other hand it's ok if some of you don't like it but those negative remarks are unnecessary...

on a positive note ... the large case really detracts from that COMPLETELY MASSIVE plate they make you wear !!!

holy crappers batman ... are the coppers sposed to see you from space with a plate thqat big ?? maybe it's time to retire a few of the 'ol buggers .. that is the real crime .. at least the bag you got to choose .. that plate would have me registering in another country ... just too much metal there ..

cheers mate

Perhaps one of the reasons for the light weight limit, is due to the fact that any more weight than that, will cause the bike to wheelie all the time, even under medium acceleration. I know my FJR did that with a similar (factory) setup. The front would never stay down with 20-30 lbs in it...it was very annoying and for a rider with little expertise, that could be quite scary, but I managed to get 100,000 KM's out of the front tire on that bike.
