I hate my dealership

My bike died tonight at work.....total electrical failure. you need to know my work is out in the middle of the everglades.... 15 miles to the nearest town. Anyhoo was able to track down a charger. Pulled the battery... WAY easier than on the ZX12. Found the negative lead loose and the two bolts that hold the battery hold down bracket MISSING. Nice work guys!!! It seems fine now. That's why I do all my own work... The idiots can't even do the simplest jobs right. I'm done venting now........

First thing I would do is make sure the freaking front brake caliper bolts are tight. My 1st 12R had one of the brake caliper bolts come out completely on me. Found out right after a high speed run and slowed down for a town. Hear strange scraping noise and found the caliper bolt missing....

I check everything over now...

Brother this is the same shit that happen to me. I am driving along and stop for gas. The kick stand was down and kind kicked up hard and all a sudden every thing is dead. I thought maybe fuse blown, spent 20mins going through every fuse. Thought maybe it was the switch for the kick stand. eventual it came back on. I called the dealer and they said they would check it out. But that night I got into the battery compartment and the terminal was so loose it was almost to fall off. I tightend every single bolt and everything was all good. This was at about 300miles.

I told the dealer they need to do a better job of preping their bikes.

Always try to double check all that on new machines. I did forget on my 14.
Luckily Wild West Honda didn't. Good/good service guys for 35 years.

Not a my dealership but a scary scary one.
I had a rear blow out while riding on the 78 through Oceanside. I had my bike flatbedded to a small oceanside dealer my son knew. They had my 14 just over 2 weeks re-truing the rear rim $200 and replacing both front and rears with Metzler M3's (my choice). As soon as I heard my bike was ready I jammed down to pick up the bike, just got on and drove home, about 80 miles. After I got back to my house and inspected my bike I noticed grease all over my pipes, there was a 2 inch x 4 inch piece of plastic debris sticking out of the front tire bead about 1 1/2 inches, the shop bike stand bolts were still in the swingarm, one was 3 inches long. I took care of all that only to find out after a 500 mile power weekend ride as I adjusted my chain the rear axle bolt wasn't even hand tight (supposed to be 83 ft/lbs if memory serves me rt), and this after a 2 day, 500 mile power ride up in the mountains. Although this was the worst repair shop I have ever seen I blame myself for not thoroughly checking out my bike myself. NEVER, NEVER AGAIN.

They swore they never rode it which is odd because my dealer always test rides the bike after a service. They are a bunch of fucking liers and lousy pot smoking drug heads. Don't ever go to a shop in Oceanside that has a name like a "art gallery".

6 years ago, the dealer that I bought my ZRX1200R from left the oil drain plug loose after the 600 mile service. That was the *last* time that any of my motorcycles have seen the inside of a dealership for repairs/maintenance.

Tim...... I'll shoot you a e-mail. I'd give you my cell number but I just lost it today..... Got sucked out of my tank bag on the way in to work tonight
I run out at the race track (Moroso) on my ZX12 all the time. One of these days I'll bring the 14 out. But yeah we can hook up and go for a ride. Roy

ZXLNT they know I'm pissed.
ZXboy after posting and then thinking about it I went to check my battery. Mine was not lose but it was not as tight as it should have been. The outher thing the battery was in backwards. Meaning the pos. was in the rear and could not be reached. Don't know what it takes to be a dealer but dam get it togeather.

It is hard to imagine that they are the last line of safety before people are turned out on to the streets!!! I understand that every year bikes change and they have to figure out a new system all of the time.. but battery cables... and oil drain plugs.... and proper tire inflation??!! This is not a training issue... it is a, "I don't give a rat's butt" attitude by (some) of the dealers and the mechanics... They get paid the same... who cares?? I know of a mechanic that was canned from a motorcycle shop... came into work drunk!!! They were so mad they called the PD... he was also given a DUI... He could have been 'prepping' someone's 14?!! I have my dealer change my tires... but I remove the wheels... and take them to the dealer... and watch him mount and balance!!!

Add to that - When a dealer forces you to make an appointment for an oil change, then takes a week "get to it" after you've dropped it off for it's *appointment*!! Total bullshit. No dealer server for me, EVER again.

dealers make too many promises and don't have the service staff to back it up. It's just a business to them..............that's why these jiffy lube places are around too bad they don't have one for motorcycles.........

i work for auto dealership and we have express service just for maintenance no appointment you are out in 45 minutes, they wash your car too.
the problem with motorcycle dealer is not alot of them out there so they really don't give a shit about service because they know you don't have alot of choices.
motorcycle dealers in most cases have different mentality about cusomer service.
just like if you have to go to get your license renewed, no help no service etc.. well were else can you go!!!!! besically you have to live with it.

I know they are out there, but I have never been to a motorcycle dealer that I have been impressed with yet.

Motorsports in NYC...at 47st and 11th ave. These guys have always taken care of my bikes,I dont have a garage to do my own work.. The problem starts at the top..the shop supervisor here,a guy name Pedro has always treated my bike like his own,no fingerprints from the mechanics ,let alone loose bolts and what not. Then again I dont give them attitude either, and generally tip the man who worked on my bike 10 bucks as a thank you. My ass is riding on his work, even though I always take a good look cause...hey you never know. These guys are great.
