The downside of the TRE, based on my experience of using one on my Suzuki, was that it disables the gear position indicator, reads 5 all the time. It just seems to be a resistor in a box with a couple of connectors and you could do that yourself for next to nothing. Is it worth the money ? I don't think so.

Thought I'd add this, so it doesn't sound like a rant. To be fair to Ivan it's an excellent and simple idea, well marketed. The question, however, was do I think it's worth $70.

Very briefly: Yes, it helps and it's worth it, I think. If you are so inclined, maybe you can rig your own. Not me, unfortunately. It does what it's supposed to do. You'll notice a difference.

I have one on my 14 and it was a noticeable increase, I can pull on my friends stock 14 now, we use to run side by side...you lose the gear indicator and lauch light, but the shift light still works.

I currently have it on my 14. Third day w/it on there. I also had it on my 'Busa. It makes a nice difference. Nothing huge.
