Brock's advice on throttle plate removal

Talked to Brock today. He still needs to do testing for the throttle plate removal. Brock advised that until he comes up with a totally easy, reversable solution to the throttle plate issue, leave the plates installed. He is trying several solutions to the problem and will post his findings upon completion of full testing. Here is an exerpt from his fourm:

Guys,

We just ran the quickest E.T. EVER by leaving the plates IN PLACE....

The 14 is very difficult to keep on the ground during the launch and more torque and HP at 3-5 k with a stock wheelbase 14 is considered the wrong direction at this point in the program (until further testing is completed).

I will have no-throttle plate maps soon for non-drag racers and drag racers with a longer swingarm.

I am trying to finish Part 2 of my Diary...my schedule will not allow for mapping until early next week- even if I did think it is the way to go.

One thing smart racers do is make a conscience effort to KEEP THINGS SIMPLE- especially at first.

Learn to ride what you have BEFORE making changes. To think the bike will be easier to launch without the plates is pure speculation at this point.

FYI: The best E.T.'s that average/above average riders have had in the last week on my 14 is by launching at 1800-2000 RPM with the plates installed!!! It's the easiest way to consistently launch the bike.

Relax and enjoy what Kawasaki gave you- I'm pretty sure their engineering team has quite a bit more time into properly launching the bike than we do.

Brock

Understood and respected. At the same time, I don't care so much about launching it as I do street riding it. I'll somewhat impatiently await your answer to more low-end power! I'm trusting your pipe, map, etc. I'll wait for the rest of the puzzle.

I ride my bike on the street a hell of a lot more than on the track, and having the plates out makes riding more of a pleasure. I just installed my Brock/Hindle exhaust(no plates), was going to go to a dyno day tomorrow but it got cancelled... Will have to wait to monday(if we are not too busy at work)

If you take out your plates, let us know how it does. Drowland, I believe it was, said his was running poorly w/aftermarket exhaust and no plates. Others say it runs great w/a similar set-up. I have all my stuff, but it probably won't get done until next week. Still deciding on the plate issue. I got the TRE, in any event. Input on how your's does would be appreciated.

Did you hear that? The bike is un-ride-able! It's an, "Animal." Now for those wondering what to do with your bike, you can ship them to me, I will pay the freight, you stop payment on the bike, eat your credit rating for a few years, and buy a more rideable bike. Whadda ya say?
Oh yeah, keep the sub plates for souvenirs. Call me....

Really...Call me. I won't say a thing. Hey, you thought you had that animal instinct, buying the 14. I know, I hear ya. Do yourself a favor... Call me.

Smokin, I'm biting at the bit here. See your 60 foot 1.58 mark? Someone will be stupid enough to break the 60 foot record running Subless. Oops, did I say something?
Who will be the 60 ft. Subless (record) King is my question? Care to guess what the number might be?

Brock: "FYI: The best E.T.'s that average/above average riders have had in the last week on my 14 is by launching at 1800-2000 RPM with the plates installed!!! It's the easiest way to consistently launch the bike."
Easiest to launch? Subless sounds like riders need to step it up? If that's the case, then I see a whole new kind of ride here?

Well i have broken my own 60 foot record last wensday night .... It's now 1.57...

I'm not sure what the other guys will do in the 60 foot with a stock wheel base , but i feel sure that in a few my weeks i'll get it down to 1.55 or better ... Time will tell...

Well I have the upper plates removed and Brocks SMEG, PCIII with Brocks map and love the immediate power response. I have not added the TRE to reduce the decel popping, I don't find it bothersome. I think it all depends on the style of riding.

The TE dow more than that. It helps low end acceleration by a good amount as well...
