I think I made a mistake buying a 14 today... Please help me out...

I think I made a mistake buying a 14 today...

Don't get me wrong the bike is AWESOME and the deal was OK.

It's just riding it home, it's not comfortable for me. I am a BIG guy.

6'2 over 300 lbs.

And it's pegs are too high and cause my knee to bend to much.

That's what I get for buying a bike nobody had in stock and not getting to test ride one.

SO what I am trying to say...I would like to sell it.

It has 24 miles on it, from the dealer to my house.

It's Candy Thunder Blue ZX-14 brand new....

If anyone is interested or knows anyone that wants one, I would like to get $11,250.00

I just rode it home...

my e-mail is

michael_monti@hotmail.com

my cell phone # is 618-218-8367 Verizon Cell

Home # is 618-724-7197

I live in Southern Illinois...my zip code is 62825

Let me know.

Thanks,
Mike

Really wish I was smaller and this bike was more comfortable for me...I really love it, but I know I can't live with it!

I need to put it on E-Bay, but I don't know how....I will learn soon if I don't sell it before I get to put it on there.

bikeland tends to be a do it yourself, make it work type site.. Get a bracket made for those pegs and make it work.. I put some highway pegs on my zx12r so anything is possible

put handle bar raisers on it and wait till the after market starts making adjustable rear sets for this bike. with the raisers on you can sit up more and you dont feel like a 90 lb horse jockey... it makes getting your feet on the pegs so much easier. dont give up on this bike. it can be made to fit. also get a higher windshield or a double bubble for the wind . make it your own bike and you will love this thing. ..... from somebody whos back wont bend and knees hurt all the time too

The pegs aren't really that high. The seat is low. Add and inch or two of padding to get yourself some room. That and the bar risers will make a world of difference.

I don't know how it is where you are but here in Texas we have a 3 day right of recision. Talk to the dealer. You may be able to return it if you are truly unhappy.

I can tell you that when I was 300+ lbs, there was no way to get comfy on a sport bike...Busa and 12R included...no matter what...just to damn heavy and big for a bike iike that...FJR would be better suited IMO. He's gonna have issues trying to get this bike to fit him...

I agree with FBA there was NO F'ing way I'd ever have been able to handle the lower bars of the 14 with my 6'2" frame at my old 370 lb.. Now at 225, no problem with the stock bars but the Heli risers made me MUCH more comfortable. Not to mention the size of the legs on a big/fat person, there just isn't enough room on the 14 for an oversized adult. People that big have enough problems with joints as it is, without being bent at odd angles.

Afraid you are going to get hosed on selling, around here they are selling less than that out the door. Dont seem to be any lack of them either. I really sympathize with you, and think I would try some of the suggestions above to make it fit before I took a big loss....TB

The pegs can also be lowered easily, right?
After you pick the paid for vehicle up in Texas, you're done, unless I'm loosing it.
I'm pretty sure the Texas 3 day rule is gone. That cost me 3500.00 a few years ago.

I would recoomeen Buell pegs, I had them on my Busa and they give you an 11/2 more leg room and I'm sure they will work on the 14

It wasn't gone last year when I bought my Yukon. A good friend of mine was the finance mgr. at the dealership where I bought it. I didn't need or want to use it. It just came up in conversation as we were completing the finance paperwork. I don't suppose any retailer would advertise or promote it in any way but it is still there for the consumer.

Guys,
I have been riding Bikes since I was 13 years old...have always been a Big Guy.
I started with a Yamaha 185 Exciter Streetbike when I was 13...(I live in a rual area so I rode it on the streets, no cops) then a 250 Ninja(Black) when I was 16, at 18 a CBR 600 F2(Black, hot pink) Then at 20 CBR 900RR(Red,White and Blue), Then at 27 a CBR 929RR(Yellow and Black,) Then last bike that I just sold....Harley V-Rod(Impact Blue) at 31/32

Now the ZX-14 at 32.

I do have an update....I don't remember his name...I will just call him...Miami Ninja Cop 14

You called me today and told me it was cause of my jeans, you were right! They were tight and I had trouble with the pegs. Now...I rode tonight put about 45 miles on it, but I wore workout pants. YES I WORKOUT...even though I am over 300lbs I workout 7 days a week, 3 miles a day on a treadmill and free weights every other day...anyway back to the story...

The workout pants & Gym shoes made a world of difference between my jeans and boots...with the jeans I couldn't bend my leg enough and with my boots my heal got hooked on the peg and when I would come to a stop my leg got hung up on peg and I would feel like I was gonna fall over at a stop.

I will say this is the most amazing Bike I have ever ridden, so smooth and so strong...Amazing it is really amazing, it just cuts through the air so easy...Just a wonderful machine.

Now, I don't wanna wear workout pants everytime I wanna ride, so I am still in a tight spot(pun intended).

Still on the edge wondering what I should do....

Wear your workout pants underneath a good pair of mesh riding pants in the largest comfortable size for you, or pick up some other forms of riding pants. If that was all it took to find comfort on the bike, I wouldn't let that stop you.
